Goodbye Crispy Creme Welcome Sonic

The Coffee landscape in Milford is going through a remarkable transformation, with one Dunkin Donuts out, one Crispy Creme out, and Cafe Atlantique under new management coffee drinkers will be getting more consolidated.

While the departures of each of these establishments all have the same story, lost profitability and a desire to head for the exit, new faces and new enthusiasm is moving in to take on the challenges of the economy.

The newest replacement to the Crispy Creme location will be a new franchise known in the fast food world as Sonic. Sonic is a fast food establishment that will serve much more than coffee and doughnuts. Sonic will feature a full menu of hamburgers, chicken, fish and fries much like is many competitors up and down the Post Road.

The new establishment is expected to open in the coming months and after the completion of its renovations and upgrades. On behalf of all of us at the MDB we welcome Sonic to Milford thank you for setting up business in this states greatest town.

Cafe Atlantique Under New Management

The popular Downtown Cafe, closed just soon after Dunkin Donuts shut their doors. Cafe Atlantique, however closed for a much different reason, as the signs on the windows clearly indicate. The Coffee shop has been sold and is now under new management. The establishment will re-open after renovations are complete.

Although we have not had an opportunity to speak with the new owners, we have been told that the establishment will still cater to the old customers and their coffee needs. The computer that was so popularly used and provided to the old establishment free of charge will no longer be there.

We sincerely hope that the allure of wireless Internet, great coffee and meeting place will continue under the new management. Cafe Atlantique has been for sale for some time, and was advertised in a few online venues. We can only assume that with the closure of Dunkin Donuts, the task of completing a sale was greatly simplified.

Peter Schiff Grand Opening Video

Schiff HQ Grand Opening A Great Success

The 2010 candidate for the US Senate, Peter Schiff launched the grand opening of his state central HQ in Milford CT this evening. Some notable local guests were in attendance to lend their warm and welcoming support.

Tom Jagodinski the Milford GOP Chair as well as local alderman Frank Goodrich were present. U.S. House candidate Peggy Rogers showed up, tea party patriots, Ron Paul enthusiasts and virtually every member of the Milford Independent Party.

Peter Schiff supporters packed the room so tightly that it was often hard to move among the crowd. Schiff gave his expected stump speech condemning the wasteful ways of the Washington crowd, he said we need to send "Obama and his entire administration back home." Schiff also gained high praises from the audience when he said he is not intent on "making friends in the Senate" if he "ticked every one of them off thats fine, especially if they stand in the way of progress."

Schiff later pointed to his son and said "the most important reason driving me to run is so that my son has a better shot at a future." Schiff pointed out that volunteers are needed and will be key to victory. He believes he has the support, and unlike McMahon he will not have to "pay his supporters to get the job done," he said "people are going to help out because they believe in the principals of liberty and freedom that I stand to deliver."

Overall the night was spectacular, over 300 people from all over our state attended, one person was notably mentioned as having relocated to Milford, from Las Vegas, just to help Peter make it to the finish line.

Quite sadly the event got little coverage, especially from the CT post who was e-mailed by me personally ahead of this event. Hopefully any reporters reading this post today will take notice of an incredible missed opportunity.

The Milford Independent Party Extends Public Invitation To HQ Grand Opening

The Milford Independent Party is extending a warm welcome to the general public, especially all those undecided or Unaffiliated voters who do not identify with a political party.

Peter Spalthoff, the Independent Candidate for Mayor will be in attendance to meet and greet any Milford person who wishes to ask him a question, or get his thoughts about our City. Additionally the rest of the Milford ticket will also be available and on hand to share their views on local issues.

The Milford Independents have also invited some interesting local and state reformers, who will certainly add an element of surprise and of course add lively informative conversation on the serious issues facing our town and state.

Remember that we get the government that we elect, and this November not making an informed decision can cost you and your family dearly. Our elected leaders can make a difference in the amount you pay in tax, the quality of our emergency services and most important the level of education your kids will receive in the coming years.

Richetelli Opens New Head Quarters In "Odd" Place

Currently under construction is the Jim Richetelli Head Quarters on New Haven Ave. The location, formerly a exotic fish and coral store, once boasted exotic creatures and animals from all over the world.

Jim Richetelli's HQ is also in the same plaza with the Computerfox, owned and operated by the Milford Independent Parties very own Rocco Frank the First District candidate for the board of education.

While Frank had planned on heavily promoting the Independent Party from this location, including attaching Peter Spalthoff Banners on the side of his Computerfox van, the Richetelli presence will be challenging.

Rocco Frank said that members of the Republican party were very aware that he occupied the Computerfox, and placing their Headquarters in the same plaza is a classic case of "Squatting" on the turf of the Independent Party.

Mr. Frank said, that he finds their choice of a location rather "odd" and somewhat of a "passive aggressive rub" on the part of the Republican party. While they are free to rent where ever they wish, without a doubt the Republicans can expect to be "Rubbing Elbows" with the Independent Party, who also, in the past, has had meetings in that same plaza.

The bigger "Rub" however, has been to ComputerFox.Inc, who for years was contracted with the city to engage in summer computerwork. This year, and after forming the Independent Party, the ComputerFox contract was "mysteriously" cancelled.
