Some Milfordites Suffer From Green Guilt

If you live in a large home, use plastic bags, drive an SUV or enjoy lots of kids you might be suffering from "green guilt." This is no joke there are actually counselors out there who are counseling people who feel powerless to save the planet. It is a feeling of anxiety that stems from an inability to afford solar panels or a hybrid vehicle a feeling that results in a lack of will or courage to volunteer or inflict change in the energy habits of others.

This is a condition that is readily becoming known as "green anxiety." These environmentally inadequate feelings are only made worse through the widespread dissemination of videos by celebrities like Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio depicting what looks like the end of the world... and yes it is our endless need to consume that makes you to blame.

Well perhaps I could put all those feelings of anxiety to rest and expose the green fearmongers. First and foremost, (Say this 100 times) "The environmental mess is not my fault." The fault belongs to those people who mislead and pervert the truth, those who refuse to let alternative technology solve our problems. The solutions to these issues are not expensive solar panels, windmills, wave gadgets, mercury lightbulbs, or atmospheric spraying. It is ending corporate greed, stopping those intent on selling carbon credits and keeping cheap clean technologies off the market because they are not profitable enough, or infringe on military patents not yet meant for the public.

The fearmongers also conveniently ignore the largest CO2 emitters which are volcanoes, forest fires, natural methane releases from decaying vegetation and the largest of truths that the Sun is just getting hotter (natural process of the Solar Maxim). Many people are not even aware that just 30 years ago in the 1970's there was fear of global cooling. Today the founder of the weather channel (John Coleman) calls global warming a scam.

Not all scientists are in agreement about global warming, there is no concrete proof that our cabon dioxide emissions are the sole reason for the changes in our climate. Those who listen to Al Gore, however, are certain beyond all doubt that this is an "open and Shut" case that the "debate is over." This coming from a man who uses 12 times more energy at his home than the average American. A man who flies frequently with heavily polluting personal jets; clearly he is not that concerned over his personal consumption. When Gore is confronted with his carbon footprint he often replies that his solar panels are coming and that he purchases carbon credits or offsets, ironically from his own company.

My point here today is lay the guilt aside, fight to bring about the right change which is Hydrogen technology. This is a battle because the big oil companies own many of the patents some expiring or expired. The new frontier of profit has been set by the faux-environmentalists who wish to re-direct personal profits by way of carbon credit scams.

Hydrogen rich (and its free) Water works well as was certified by multiple engineers and U.S. patents. Look at the Stanley Meyers video below, and then tell me if you still feel guilt that the environmental mess is somehow your fault. We can only blame ourselves for not knowing, and now that you know you can blame yourself for not spreading the word.

Touch a Truck At Eisenhower Park

This was an event sponsored by the Junior Women’s Club. Fire trucks, ambulances, 18 wheelers, police cars, dump trucks and much more were parked on the field for youngsters to explore. Other activities included face painting and tattoos a hay ride, moon bounce, and rock wall climbing.

Anyone living near the park could not help but hear the blaring horns of the many trucks. Kids were really enjoying themselves and were particularly curious with the many different sounds of the trucks. The event was a great success for the Women's Club who raises money for people in crisis.

The Milford Junior Woman's Club was established in 1973. It is comprised of a diverse group of women from Milford and surrounding towns. Each member of the MJWC brings a unique perspective on the world, and an individual life experience that enhances the capabilities of the organization. The time and talents so generously given by the women of this club can best be measured in the benefits reaped by the community it serves.

Hal Turner, FBI Operative, Arrested In Hartford

FBI operative Hal Turner has been arrested for inciting violence, according to The Hartford Courant. Turner allegedly incited Catholics to “take up arms” and singling out two Connecticut lawmakers and a state ethics official. He was arrested by state Capitol police in Connecticut.
In 2008, Turner was exposed as an FBI operative.

Turner was charged in a warrant with inciting injury to persons or property and will be presented in a New Jersey courthouse today for extradition to Connecticut.

Remarks on Turner’s blog “were a reaction to the recent controversy over a bill that would have changed the way the Roman Catholic Church is governed, taking power away from church officials and turning it over to lay members. It was pulled in mid-March following an outcry from Catholics across the state and questions about its constitutionality,” according to the newspaper.

“It is our intent to foment direct action against these individuals personally. These beastly government officials should be made an example of as a warning to others in government: Obey the Constitution or die,” commentary on Turner’s blog stated. “If any state attorney, police department or court thinks they’re going to get uppity with us about this, I suspect we have enough bullets to put them down, too.”

Turner promised to publicize the home addresses of the Connecticut officials Wednesday night, but was taken into custody before that could happen.

Hal Turner is no stranger to controversy and has issued threats in the past.

In 2005, he publicized the names of three federal court judges. He posted the judges’ names and addresses on his Web site. “We may have to ASSASSINATE some of the people you elect on Nov. 7! This could be your LAST ELECTION CHANCE, to save this Republic… Sorry to have to be so blunt, but the country is in mortal danger from our present government and our liberty is already near dead because of this government. If you are too stupid to turn things around with your vote, there are people out here like me who are willing to turn things around with guns, force and violence. We hope our method does not become necessary,” Turner declared on the website.

On April 4, 2008, Turner encouraged violence against Lexington, Massachusetts school superintendent Paul Ash for establishing a new curriculum supporting gays and lesbians. “I advocate parents using FORCE AND VIOLENCE against Superintendent Paul B. Ash as a method of defending the health and safety of school children presently being endangered through his politically-correct indoctrination into deadly, disease-ridden sodomite lifestyles,” Turner wrote. He went on to provide Ash’s personal information, including his address.

Turner claims to be a white supremacist and nationalist. He advocates antisemitism, including rounding up and killing Jews. He has also advocated assaulting and killing African-Americans.

Hal Turner’s arrest feeds into the Department of Homeland Security’s effort to conflate Second Amendment advocates, “antigovernment” activists, and veterans with white supremacists. As Infowars reported today, the DHS and “terrorism experts” are attempting to portray those maligned by the DHS as dangerous terrorists in league with al-Qaeda and a demented Islamic “thinker” who has proposed launching an anthrax attack on the White House.

In 2008, Turner was exposed as an FBI operative. “Hal Turner, rising in fame as the most blatant hate talk radio host, self-proclaimed neo-nazi, antisemite, racist who hinted at the need to eradicate Jews — turns out to have been fronting a typical FBI COINTELPRO sting operation,” writes Richard Evans. Hackers managed to gain access to his forum server and revealed correspondence with an FBI agent who was apparently Turner’s handler.

The FBI is notorious for subsidizing, arming, directing and protecting the Klu Klux Klan and other so-called right-wing groups under COINTELPRO in the late 1960s and early 70s.

Genevieve P. Salvatore is officially in the mayoral race.

The 37 year-old lawyer made a point during her announcement Tuesday evening that if she receives her party's nomination she would be running against three Republicans in this year's mayoral contest.

Incumbent Mayor James L. Richetelli Jr., former Board of Aldermen Chairman Thomas Beirne and Peter Spalthoff, a former GOP town chairman running on the Independent ticket, have previously announced their candidacy.

Salvatore presented herself as a fresh face with new ideas. "I am not a politician,'' she said to the knot of people gathered in the park in front of City Hall. "I am an attorney, a wife and a mother, and a business owner, and for the past eight years, the city has not been operating smartly or efficiently.''

The Kimball Report on the city's building and land-use permitting processes "shows systemic inefficiencies in government. We are wasting our fiscal and human resources, but it doesn't have to be like that,'' she said. "I'd like the opportunity to do more with less.''

A graduate of the University of Connecticut and the UConn School of Law, Salvatore also has a master's degree in public administration from the University of Hartford.

"You know that person in the dorm who never studied, but got all A's?'' her husband Stephen said. "That's her. Gen is street smart and things come easily to her. But she also works hard. She commuted from West Hartford to Manhattan.

The Salvatores have been married 15 years and are the parents of a 6-year-old son, Geno.

"We're big UConn fans, but he's not named for Geno Auriemma,'' Stephen said. Geno, meanwhile, didn't seem too impressed with all the attention his mother was getting Tuesday.

The candidate grew up on the Jersey shore and the Salvatores moved to Milford in 2002. "We had the opportunity to move to any town we wanted to and of all the ones on our hit list, Milford has everything we were looking for,'' the candidate said.

The chairwoman of the city Economic Development Commission, Salvatore also serves on the advisory board for Boys and Girls Village. Her legal practice handles development, construction and contracts, with an office on the Green.

Salvatore is not likely to face any opposition for the Democrats' mayoral nomination, Democratic Town Chairman Richard Smith said. "The town committee is very enthusiastic about her and she is not one of the same people who've been around the political process for years, perhaps myself included.

Alderman Martin Hardiman, D-3, said he looks forward to running for re-election with Salvatore at the top of the ticket. Her biggest task will be to increase her name recognition, said Hardiman, who ran for mayor himself in 1991.

"It's not just reaching out to the five district committees, it's going door-to-door,'' he said. "She'll do that, and I know she'll run well. We have a lot of fresh faces coming in.''

David Hourigan, the Board of Education chairman, said an advantage Salvatore will have is "there are no hidden agendas. It's all up front.''

Richetelli, declaring his plans Monday to run for re-election, said that he is running on his four-term record and will conduct his campaign the same way, regardless of his opponents.

Spalthoff said that he doesn't know Salvatore well, but looks forward to the race. "Mine will be a bare-bones campaign,'' he said. "We don't have a lot of money to get our message out.''

Nine Milford students at Housatonic Community College were honored May 26 at HCC’s Awards Night ceremony honoring the “Best of the Best” of the Class of 2009.
Student Robert W. Vieira won the most awards of any student, six, including the Academic Dean’s Prize for maintaining a perfect 4.0 average. Other awards he won include the Outstanding Community College Accounting Student (Connecticut Society of CPA's Educational Trust Fund), a Certificate of Achievement in Accounting, the Blum-Shapiro Accounting Scholarship Award, the Dale Ward Endowed Scholarship, and the Dale Ward Scholarship.

Senate Approves Taking Governor’s Appointment Power, Declines Ethics Rule

by Christine Stuart: The state Senate approved a bill Friday morning 21-12, which would require a US Senate vacancy to be filled by a special election, instead of gubernatorial appointment.

Sen. Gayle Slossberg, D-Milford, said the bill returns the power to elect a US Senator to the people of Connecticut. Since the 1940s the power to appoint a US Senator has resided with the governor, but recent scandals like the one in Illinois over Barack Obama’s vacant senate seat has given the concept of holding a special election more momentum than in previous years. The bill now heads to the House for a approval.

Also Republicans tried to change the rules of the Senate to create a bipartisan committee of ethics to allow for senators to be disciplined by their peers.

The Republican move comes on the heels of two recent election complaints against two Democratic senators who were noticeably absent during the debate and vote Friday morning.

Sen. Thomas Gaffey, D-Meriden, who was fined $6,000 in March for double-billing the state and his own political action committee for expenses related to his attendance at legislative conferences, and Sen. Joseph Crisco, D-Woodbridge, who was fined $4,000 this week for violating state election laws related to his re-election campaign, were both absent.

Sen. Minority Leader John McKinney, R-Southport, predicted that the resolution to change the rules would be defeated, but tried to remind his Democratic colleagues that once upon a time, the concept was something they supported.

Sen. President Donald Williams, D-Brooklyn, said it opens the doors to frivolous complaints against any of the 36 senators. He said it means even if someone believed a rumor was true they couldn’t be held responsible for making a false statement against a senator. McKinney said he met with Williams earlier in the day Thursday and would have agreed to limit who was able to file complaints to the 36 senators in the circle.

The idea of a bipartisan committee on Senate ethics first came up at the end of 2007 when former Sen. Louis DeLuca admitted to asking a man with mafia-ties to beat up his granddaughter’s husband because he thought she was being abused. A six-member panel, three Senators from each party, was appointed to determine whether to recommend a censure, reprimand, or expulsion. DeLuca ended up resigning before the committee made its final recommendation.

Support for changing the Senate’s rules to create a permit bipartisan committee on ethics seems to have faded since.

The bill failed mostly along party lines by a vote of 13-20, with only one Democrat, Sen. Ed Meyer, D-Guilford, voting for it.
