One Sikorski Bandit Apprehended

According to police reports this week the Sikorski credit Union bandit who who robbed the Credit Union on September 29 was arrested.

The person charged with the crime is a Milford man, Eric Lapenna, a 22 year old that was apprehended in Florida by local authorities. Mr. Lapenna had to be extradited to Connecticut where he will face multiple counts besides just robbing banks.

According to the Milford Police two additional warrants were served on him. One warrant alleges the theft of checks from a residence on Milford Point Road, the other charges include, violation of probation, first degree robbery, second degree larceny and a failure to appear in court after a domestic dispute.

Currently Mr. Lapenna's bond is set at $600,000 and has future court appearances and an arraignment scheduled in the coming weeks.

The apprehension of Mr. Lapenna has brought some much needed justice to the Sikorski Credit union that was robbed not once, but twice in a period of a few months. The security cameras at these locations also revealed others who were involved in the theft. No official report exists as to whether or not the robberies, each on seperate days are connected.

Because some accomplices to these crimes are not yet apprehended, and the investigation and questioning of Mr. Lapenna will certainly be pursued, catching all involved in the heist will be challenging. The photo above shows other individuals involved in the separate robbery.

According to standard police protocol, it could be entirely possible that Mr. Lapenna could be offered a reduced sentence or a special plea deal if he reveals the names of his accomplices.

The FBI is also involved in other Milford bank related robberies but no mention is specifically made as to their involvement in this case or the Lapenna extradition. Robbing banks is also a Federal offense when state lines are crossed.

Another Thief Another Business Robbed

The low life criminal in the above photo is yet another pathetic instance of businesses being under assault. If there ever has been a time to get night clerks armed and trained to deter these criminals, now is the time.

The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was not intended to let the criminals have guns, and leave law abiding store owners feeling that guns are a terrible thing. Businesses should have a right to defend their own property and the sooner these thugs see the gun pointed back at them the sooner they will get the message.

Police, once again, have released another video and more photos from two recent Devon robberies. They are again, asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect.

Both businesses robbed this week are, the New Star China Restaurant and the Krauser's Market. Both were conveniently robbed near closing time by a suspect described as white, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a thin to medium build.

The restaurant, is located at 548 Naugatuck Ave., and was robbed Oct. 27, the convenience store was robbed two days later.

In both holdups, the robber displayed a small, black handgun, police said. Investigators believe that the two robberies may have been committed by the same person.

Police Need Help Finding Bank Robber

Investigators have obtained an arrest warrant for a man they believe robbed the Sikorsky Financial Credit Union on Sept. 29, police said.

The suspect, Eric Lapenna, for whom no address was given, is believed to have ties to Maine and California, police said. He is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and 145 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes, police said. Lapenna is believed to be operating a 2002 silver color Mazda Protégé, with Connecticut registration 820-XRE. Anyone with information that would assist in locating Lapenna is asked to call the Milford Police Detective Division at (203) 877-1465 or (203) 878-6551.

Sikorski Credit Union Robbed Again

This will be the second time in two weeks the Milford branch of the Sikorsky Financial Federal Credit Union was robbed.

The robbery took place at about 12:30 this afternoon and a medical team was dispatched to the credit union along with emergency personnel and the police department. The robbery is still under investigation and one photograph (above) has been released.

Witnesseses described three hooded men entering the bank through the rear door, one demanded money from the a teller, the other entered an office and robbed a man lying on the floor. The suspects then exited through the rear door and made off in a getaway car described as a silver vehicle with tinted windows that may have been a Mitsubishi.

The police attempted to lift fingerprints, and used dogs to gather a scent. There is no comment on whether or not this heist was linked to the prior one. The police are also asking the public to report any information they have.

Police Need Help Finding Milford Bank Robber

Tuesday Morning the Sikorsky Federal Credit Union was Robbed by what was described as a screaming hooded man. The man entered the bank at 9:30A.M. and threatened to shoot anyone who stood in his way.

He then jumped the banks counteres and emptied the tellers cash boxes, he then proceeded to the rear bank exit on foot in the direction of Krispy Kreme on the post Road.

Police said the suspect is 5'7" and thinly built. He was also wearing what appeared to be a pair of sweat pants over his jeans. A police dog was later used to track the mans scent where it ended at Krispy Kreme. Police believe that the abrupt end of the scent was likely due to the man getting in a parked car and leaving the area.

Fortunately no one was hurt, no weapon was seen or found but many customers and bank employees were nonetheless frightened.

Downtown Citizen's Bank Robbed

Police are investigating an armed robbery Friday morning at the Citizen's Bank branch downtown.

Brandishing a gun, a man wearing a bandana demanded cash from a teller at the bank, at 123 Cherry St., shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to Officer Vaughan Dumas, police spokesman.

The robber fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash, heading south on Gulf Street toward Milford Cemetery, Dumas said.

Described as 6 feet tall with a slender build, the suspect was wearing khaki pants, a gray hoodie and a dark baseball cap, police said. He disguised himself by wearing a blue-and-white bandana and mirrored aviator-style sunglasses and held a small black weapon in his right hand, witnesses told police.

Police have released photographs and video surveillance images from bank security, hoping anyone who recognizes the suspect will come forward.
