It is no secret that Bridgeport was ill prepared for the 2010 vote. What happened was a surprise to many including Mayor Finch who said "Bridgeport can't be remembered as the dimpled chad of elections."
An independent reporting agency asked the Democratic voter registrar what happened and they declined to comment, however the Republican registrar of voters in Bridgeport exposes criminal, civil and blatantly obvious election fraud. All of Acorns activities, a Government sponsored agency, were reported to the Democratic Secretary of State Suzan Byczewitz to investigate.
Some are clamoring that election fraud in Bridgeport was so pervasive, and yet advantageous to the Democratic party in Connecticut that the FBI should open a RICO investigation on ACORN for criminal activity.
What makes Bridgeport's voting so unusual is that the entire country favored Republicans this year, except Connecticut whose entire state and federal elections were thrown in favor of the Democrats. Watch the below video and perhaps we can gain perspective on why protests are the new focal point in Bridgeport.

Letter Exposes Kimball Report (KRIT) Not Implemented As Prescribed
Dear [Board of Aldermen Members]
As elected current and former representatives of our communities, with more than 20 years between us serving the City of Milford as Planning and Zoning Board Commissioners, we know that what you do is important, difficult and at times, unfortunately, thankless. Please know, therefore, that our speaking out regarding the newly formed Department of Permitting and Land Use reflect genuine concerns regarding the re-alignment of the land use departments, and these concerns, expressed to your board before, reflect the views of many in our community.
As you know, this new department, formed by the Kimball Report Implementation Team, is a new item in the 2011 budget currently being reviewed by your board. This department was formed by the merging of three departments—Building, Inland Wetlands, and City Planning—into one department. The proposed budget reflects the cost of running those three departments and the salary of a new position, Director of the Department of Permitting and Land Use.
Comparing the budget request for this new department with the individual budgets for the once independent departments for FY 2010, shows that there is an 11% budget increase projected; this increase is comprised, in large part, of the salary for the Director. (Salaries for all three departments in FY 2010: $830,229 and the Mayor’s request is $934,385 for FY 2010). The total budget for these three departments: $892,752 FY 2010/$1,001,690 FY 2011. This increase does not include the cost of the Parsons remodel to accommodate the merging of the 3 departments which has been suggested to be $145,000. Part of the funding for this redesign and renovation is being funded through LOCIP Funds.
The increase – the largest for any City department – represents a stark departure from the intention of the Kimball Report which was initiated by the Board of Alderman and paid for from City Funds. In that report many recommendations were made to enhance the permitting process thereby ensuring better and more efficient customer service. Among the recommendations: Implementation of enhanced software; utilization of the City of Milford website; signage for Parsons Complex and a new staffing position, described in the report as a Permitting Authority or a concierge.
What the City has now is a position budgeted for a permanent Director of the Department of Permitting and Land Use who, according to the recently posted job description, has authority over three departments and professional staff, yet that position, paying $95,000 year, requires no land use experience, professional certification of any kind or post-high school education. During the almost 6 months that the interim Director has served the City, the operations of the three departments have remained pretty much the same; if anything the departments have less available resources than before this change was implemented in November of 2009. This was brought into stark clarity during your most recent budget hearing: the overtime costs for these departments remain as they were, and not only has overtime costs continued during the past 6 months, but staffing shortages are projected at the same level for all of 2011. As you know a key staff position (the Zoning Enforcement Officer) in the City Planning office remains unfilled, and a building inspector position in the building department has been removed from this year’s budget.
In short, the City is currently paying $95,000 for a position that has not alleviated staffing shortages as the Director of the Department of Permitting and Land Use testified to during the budget hearings.
What the City wanted with the hiring of an outside firm to review the permitting processes in the City was a plan for addressing the concerns of developers and residents who found working with the various departments difficult and confusing. But, the implementation of that plan has brought about little or no savings to the City and the key recommendations of the Kimball Report remain unfulfilled. But, more importantly, the cost for a Director overseeing professional staff has in fact made it impossible for these departments to be fully staffed and deprived these offices of some technical upgrades that were recommended and are necessary to expedite the permitting process.
As your board makes decisions on the budget, you are, as in good years and not-so-good years, left to make decisions about what is working and what is not as well setting the priorities of the City. Everyone has their own view; however, the cost to the City of a regular, full-time employee (including benefit package that will add at a minimum 10% additional cost for the position) overseeing the professional staff of three departments seems a very high price to pay when the City is cutting teachers or decreasing funding in other City departments or services. What makes the Director of Permitting and Land Use more important than preserving certain teaching positions?
In the case of the Director’s position, the City has had almost 6 months to review the progress of the changes envisioned by the implementation team, and the benefits to the City that that position has brought. We don’t believe that a fair and impartial look at what was envisioned by the Kimball Report and what has been delivered meets the vision of Kimball nor does it come close to satisfying the needs of the City.
The City needs to get the most value for their taxpayer’s money. We believe that if a position such as this is added to the City budget, this position should increase departmental efficiencies by providing customer service through a one-stop concierge service as envisioned in the Kimball Report. Further, as outlined in that report, providing customer service through development of internet tools that assist permit seekers with accurate information would go a long way to decreasing individual visits to various Land Use offices. Moreover, planned GIS upgrades—previously partially budgeted—should be implemented and inter-departmental information flow enhanced through electronic upgrades; all of which would allow professional staff to focus on their core jobs rather than attending to the myriad of questions and frustrations that arise everyday and could be handled by a mid-level employee. These affordable changes will help decrease overtime costs while providing builders and residents with quality and prompt information.
In addition to the known added costs of this implementation, there is also the unknown impact of pending grievances by union administrators. It would seem mandatory that this be dealt with before any position is funded.
We believe, that the City does not need to hire a permanent Director. However, if deemed necessary, that a job description be more in line with the goals set forth in Kimball—a mid-salary position where the duties emphasize the customer service aspect that is at the heart of the Kimball Report. Moreover, interdepartmental and extra-departmental communication needs to be enhanced through electronic upgrades that allow information to be shared across departments as well as providing basic land use information on the Milford City website.
An alternative scenario: “pause” further action and concentrate solely on the technology
up-grades; if necessary a tech consultant hired with oversight provided by a city administrator. At the end of the next fiscal year evaluate the need for any further change.
It doesn't make sense to us for the Board of Alderman to be looking at cutting overtime, consolidating copier costs and looking into cheaper ways to publicize announcements among the three departments without giving very serious consideration to the thousands and thousands of dollars the City is spending—and will continue to spend year after year—for a position that is not, in its present form, able to provide the full range of customer service objectives and departmental efficiencies that were the objectives of the City’s own funded report.
Please know that we understand the enormous responsibility you have and we hope you understand the value we place on your service to the City. We hope that with the understanding that we are all working together for a better Milford, that you consider our concerns and suggestions seriously."
With all respect,

Rosa Delauro Irks Many In Milford
Sad but true, nearly a year has gone by and the only memory of a photo that I have of our illustrious Congresswoman is a lone photo of her eating lobster at a lobster fest in Milford.Aside from her penchant for natural food, In years past and still currently I have been upset with her "food safety and modernization act." This is because it is my opinion that this act has nothing to do with food safety and all to do with handing over the family farm to big corporations. Anyone with any knowledge about this issue should be keenly aware of her husbands relationship with Monsanto foods and how it benefits them to do Monsanto's bidding.
For those who do not know Monsanto that is the company that genetically vandalizes the DNA of food and then patents the food so no one can grow it or profit from things like corn, soybeans, potato's etc. In years past they have sued family farmers over the wind cross germinating farmers fields.
Lets also not forget that as we were riding in coach while on vacation this summer, Rosa left for Italy with Speaker Pelosi on a flight that cost taxpayers over $200,000.00. This "Business trip" included visiting the Vatican, lots of Museums, sight seeing and yes the occasional cognac and steak dinner with a famous politician.
Your blood should be boiling by now, but if its not let me remind you all of one more thing, her refusal to hold bankers accountable in Congress. While two Congressmen from CT were co-sponsoring the bill to audit the Federal Reserve, Derosa sided with former Golman Sachs executive Jim Himes in opposing the bill. She did this quietly since over 312 or most of Congress co-sponsored the bill without her. This should leave you wondering how her loyalty to bankers are in lockstep with those of Chris Dodd. Dodd made it clear by his resignation that he would rather quit the U.S. Senate than hold the very thieves who wrecked America Accountable.
Rosa Delauro's misguided leadership is one boondoggle of disrespect after the other, if she is not out in East Haven battling their local police department for arresting the nutty behavior of April Capone Almon, she is out fraternizing over some other feminist escapade that has nothing to do with the key issues facing America.
This week and in the photo above we witness again our incorrigible Congresswoman in yet another Feminist posture with her wildly unpopular travel buddy, Speaker Nancy Pelosi. During this widely protested and unwelcome visit to Connecticut Rosa made a point yet again to push her personal agenda while ignoring the wishes of her constituents who are rightfully upset with our nations Speaker.

Milford's New Boardwalk Promises Not To Plow The Plovers
Milford State Rep. Barbara Lambert announced in her latest press release that work on the 1.6 million dollar boardwalk is set to begin. Many are already crying foul, complaining that this is yet another boondoggle of a project that is sending Milford "to the birds."Environmentalists at the Audobon Society are concerned that if migrating Piping Plovers return to Milford, the boardwalk may plow through their habitat and damage their nests.
Lambert has indicated that should the plovers return, the builders have instructions to take the animals into consideration. She indicated that there is a "plan" in place not to harm the birds.
While some have called the belabored boardwalk a poorly timed project, the Mayor, former rep Jim Amann and other advocates have called the project necessary if Milford is to boost local commerce.
Property owners on the waterfront have expressed additional concern over increased crime and the noise of an ongoing construction project. Lambert indicated that the noise would be confined to business hours only but made no comment on the propensity for increased crime.
Last election the Republicans held a solitaire fundraiser to raise funds for a security problem that would address the issue of crime in that area of Milford. There has been no comment as of yet as to wether or not they intend to install a security camera.

Another Thief Another Business Robbed
The low life criminal in the above photo is yet another pathetic instance of businesses being under assault. If there ever has been a time to get night clerks armed and trained to deter these criminals, now is the time. The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was not intended to let the criminals have guns, and leave law abiding store owners feeling that guns are a terrible thing. Businesses should have a right to defend their own property and the sooner these thugs see the gun pointed back at them the sooner they will get the message.
Police, once again, have released another video and more photos from two recent Devon robberies. They are again, asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect.
Both businesses robbed this week are, the New Star China Restaurant and the Krauser's Market. Both were conveniently robbed near closing time by a suspect described as white, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a thin to medium build.
The restaurant, is located at 548 Naugatuck Ave., and was robbed Oct. 27, the convenience store was robbed two days later.
In both holdups, the robber displayed a small, black handgun, police said. Investigators believe that the two robberies may have been committed by the same person.
Once again anyone with information about either case is asked to call the Milford police detective division at 203-877-1465

Dodd's "No Banker Left Behind" May Leave Him Reeling For Votes
Chris Dodd is certainly a desperate man these days, aside from his slumping approval rating and sleuth of corrupt banking friends, Dodd is got the Tea Party Patriots protesting just about every event he goes to.His candidacy was also complicated with health issues he developed, but after a protracted prostate surgery Dodd says he will march on in good health. For a short while things seemed to improve for Dodd, than Film Maker Michael Moore came along and created a new documentary called "Capitalism A Love Story." Moore characterized Dodd as being "bought and paid for" by America's big banks, with Countrywide and Goldman Sachs at the root of the nations monetary problems and the banking committee that he chairs.
Last week I saw the Moore Documentary in Bridgeport because the Milford Theater only ran it for three weeks. The showings were late at night and eventually the manager of the theater said that "due to a lack of interest in the film" it was "removed" from the theater. For this reason I traveled to the Fairfield Theater and saw it there.
This movie made it clear that there is more than one Bernie Madoff out there, there are bankers far more dangerous and in higher places than we can imagine. Instead of Ponzi schemes, we have the Federal Reserve hiding under the legitimacy of the color of law. They are printing money and issuing debt deep into the future and its costing us Trillions of Dollars. Incredibly no one seems to have any oversight or accountability for the Federal Reserve and its renegade practices.
Congress has become very frustrated with the Federal Reserve, who since 1913 inflated the dollar down to about Two Cents. Amazing? Yes what Two Cents bought in 1913 you need a Dollar for today. The Fed was created on the very premise that our undisciplined Congress would destroy our currency value, and therefore the expertise of the worlds bankers and their connections were important to secure Capitalism and avert a catastrophe.
Rep. Ron Paul and Bernie Sanders, introduced two bills to audit the Federal Reserve. Paul's Bill H.R. 1207 has 305 Co Sponsors or more than two thirds of the U.S. House of Representatives. S 604 introduced by Saunders is the companion Bill to H.R. 1207. The Senate has a paltry 31 Senators in favor of it and the Goldman Sachs boys (lobbyists) running the Federal Reserve recently hired Enron's (former) P.R. firm to pressure congress and the President not to audit the Fed.
There is a clear indication of fear from the Wall Street lobbyists in charge of the Federal Reserve. These people know that once the "curtain comes down" and the GAO audits the Fed and reports those numbers to Congress that the greatest swindle in history will be unveiled.
Congress knows this to be true, but Senators like Joe Lieberman and Chris Dodd continue to attack the banks on penny practices while blocking the legislation that will take down the Wall Street "Bernie Madoff's" that are swindling the taxpayers of America.
For those of you who are not certain how any of this affects you, well think again because inflation affects everybody. Many people today are forced to make due with less because as prices rise, wages usually do not keep up and unemployment and worker productivity also increases. This means workers, that still have jobs, must work harder for less money. Ron Paul called inflation the "cruelest form of taxation" because it is done without your consent, your knowledge, or a vote from Congress.
The solutions to these problems are not easy ones, they are not simple, but an audit of the Fed is the Right step because it will expose all those criminals in the banking system that have looted the U.S. Treasury through Theft, Racketeering, Cronyism, and corrupt business practices.
Ron Paul, a former Libertarian, and Sen Saunders a Socialist are both a far cry from the two party gang that occupies D.C. and yet these individuals are the ones pushing to end the looting in D.C. Why any of our congressional leaders would object to supporting the bill that roots out corruption in Washington is a mystery to me, but what it does imply is that many of our Congressional leaders are buying into the ruse that an audit will somehow interfere with the "neutrality and independence" of the Fed.
Many fear that the Federal Reserve is bailing out nations all across the world, on the backs of our children's and grandchildren's futures. While many are carrying their legacy by leaving a marred future on our kids backs. The next generation will have to deal with ever present crumbling cities that increasingly represent the failure of our nation. Moore represents Flint Michigan, and the tent cities in California as examples, and Bernake admits to giving other nations our tax dollars by way of central and global banks.
In conclusion to this post today, I would highly recommend not supporting or voting for any Senator that does not support S 604 The Federal Reserve Sunshine Act. Sadly to say that both of our Senators in Connecticut do not support it. I personally contacted Chris Dodd's office numerous times and basically got ignored and shut out on this very question time and again. I spoke with his media rep, and several of his staffers no one would give me an answer or the courtesy of an explanation.
Chris Dodd alleges he is taking a hard line against banks and their corrupt practices, but in reality he is just hurting small regional banks. Dodd is collaborating a policy that will consolidate these small banks into one of nine major banks. Essentially these banks will be shuttered and then only be permitted to function under the control of the Goldman Sachs boys at the Federal Reserve.
Anyone who understands this issue will tell you how important it is to have transparency in government, and Dodd appears to be against all transparency at the Federal Reserve. A banker once said in a documentary I saw many years ago, is that all it takes to hijack America is to control 51 people. The President and 50 Senators. Our forefathers said "that banking institutions are more dangerous than standing armies."
As it stands it looks like America's Plutocracy is comprised of perhaps 70 people at the moment. Sadly the people of this nation are still not yet awake enough to use the power we have left... "one vote one person."
Know the truth, stay informed, and use your "one vote" to vote the Plutocracy out. All we have left, is this "our one vote" and it counts just as much as that of a Billionaire so use it wisely.

Petty Thieves In Milford On The Rise
On two occasions I had the opportunity to speak with a police officer about this very issue, and what he reported was mostly thievery by young adults on the prowl.
Most complaints that involve a property crime are the result of our own failure to lock our cars, close our garages, or secure our personal valubles. A great many cases of theft, for example, occur because kids see things in cars they think are valuable.
Unlocked cars are easy targets, and a thief can grab your purse, wallet, or laptop computer by simply opening up the door. By the time the police arrive, other than looking for fingerprints, there is often not much they can do to get the stolen items back.
What the Police Department recommends is for people to assist them in reducing the numbers of crimes. Our part is real simple, "lock your car," "Close your garage," and "Do not leave your valuables laying around in public places." Business owners can put up a sign in their parking lots reminding people to "please lock their cars while unattended." If we all take this approach and spread the word to our family members, we as a community can make a difference in bringing down our crime statistics.
With the economy teetering, and unemployment rising these crimes of opportunity are going to become more prevalent as the "have nots" will continue to target those who "have."
These are unfortunate times, and when people hit their lows strange things can happen. My mother-in-law who lives in Florida once told me that after the last devastating hurricane people were all very nice for about the first three days. After not being able to get the basics they needed for survival she witnessed even the nicest neighbors get downright "mean" as she put it.
Crime, and the "meanness" of theft, is now becoming a fact of life during the present economic onslaught and its induced trials and tribulations. We as a community need to do our part by simply taking greater care in securing our personal property. Again, please inform your family and friends that they can do their part in deterring crime by just following the above police advice.

Crime In Milford Drops Significantly Compared To Five Years Ago
The population of Milford has steadily increased over the last five years and according to the FBI crime statistics most areas of crime have decreased significantly. But before I start to go on about how exciting this report is, I need to point out the disclaimer on the FBI website about their statistics. The FBI wants readers to know "that the numbers in the tables below are only what is reported to them and are not indicative of the real or actual quality of life in a community." That is it in real short summary but anyone who wants more information can go to www.fbi.gov to get more answers.
The tables below are therefore going to be my interpretation, and if I may put it frankly, the police department is doing a great job holding the line on deterring just about every area of major crime in our city.
There has been much talk of Republican fundraisers to purchase video cameras that some area businesses want and others find controversial. There also has been criticism over additional police offers being added to the streets. But when you look at the facts as reported to the FBI Milford's Police Department, or people, have been doing a stellar job in deterring crime. The numbers speak for themselves.
See the Table Below (More People Less Crime):

These numbers are great news news for any home buyer looking to find a tranquil place to live with lots of beaches, and great quality of life. My personal experiences in Milford have also been crime free and tranquil, and no one in my very large extended family has been a victim to any crime while living here. Sometimes when we pick up the newspapers and read about all the horror stories with sexual assaults, bank robberies and the like we are really looking at extended dragged on variations of the same drama. The same criminals being reported on for months and months on end, and being reported on play by play.
Recently I heard that Milford is one of the best places to retire to in Connecticut, and is ranked real high on the East Coast. We are the only town in the State to have had their taxes go down. These qualities are what attracts others to want to live here in Milford, and when anyone ever makes remarks about "Crime in Milford" they just need to really check the facts. Milford's crime rate is much lower than the state average in every area and we as a community can be proud of that despite the sensationalism put forth by some local reporters and those who want to lobby for a bigger police department.

Police Need Help Finding Milford Bank Robber
Tuesday Morning the Sikorsky Federal Credit Union was Robbed by what was described as a screaming hooded man. The man entered the bank at 9:30A.M. and threatened to shoot anyone who stood in his way.He then jumped the banks counteres and emptied the tellers cash boxes, he then proceeded to the rear bank exit on foot in the direction of Krispy Kreme on the post Road.
Police said the suspect is 5'7" and thinly built. He was also wearing what appeared to be a pair of sweat pants over his jeans. A police dog was later used to track the mans scent where it ended at Krispy Kreme. Police believe that the abrupt end of the scent was likely due to the man getting in a parked car and leaving the area.
Fortunately no one was hurt, no weapon was seen or found but many customers and bank employees were nonetheless frightened.
The scene of this crime was at 1400 Boston Post Road in Milford, CT and is one of several bank robberies this year. Police are asking the public (with any information to report) to call the Milford Police Department at (203) 878-6551. Click bank photo above to enlarge the suspected bank robber.

Local Residents "Shook Up" Over Neighborhood Murder
Zion Hill Road residents said Monday the gunshots that rang out Sunday night, marking the city’s first apparent killing this year, and the grisly discovery of a body that followed, have disturbed the calm of the secluded neighborhood in the city’s north end.“I knew it wasn’t fireworks. It was just the sound, and the way they were fired. The deliberate way they were fired,” said the Zion Hill Road resident who placed the lone call alerting police to the slaying Sunday night.
“There were two shots, then a pause, then several more in quick succession.”
Police were still waiting Monday night for the state medical examiner to confirm the identity of the man who was found dead Sunday night on the side of Zion Hill Road with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police have tentatively identified the victim as a 28-year-old New Haven resident, but are waiting for confirmation from the medical examiner and notification of the victim’s family before releasing his identity.
A 2000 Honda Accord police believe was used by the victim was found on Newfield Avenue in Bridgeport Monday afternoon and is being forensically reviewed, police spokesman Officer Vaughan Dumas said.
Police were called to the area of Zion Hill and Wheeler’s Farms roads at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of gunshots.
The man who called police after hearing eight to 10 gunshots said the discovery on the edge of his property was unsettling.
“You don’t want stray bullets flying around you,” said the Zion Hill Road resident, who declined to give his name.
The man said he called 911 after hearing loud noises that he was sure were gunshots.
He said he thought someone was taking shots at a deer and went to investigate after calling police. The Zion Hill Road resident wasn’t able to find anything.
The police who showed up quickly discovered a body about 5 feet off the road in a wooded area near the 911 caller’s property.
“It is a little nerve-racking finding a body basically on your property; this is not one of those things to take lightly. It really brings you up to modern times. It could happen anywhere and now it’s happened here,” the man said.
“Forensic evidence” was found near the body leading police to believe that the man was killed at or near where the body was found, police said.
Francis D. Amico, another Zion Hill Road resident, said he didn’t hear the gunshots and was unaware of the shooting until told by a reporter Monday.
He said young people sometimes drink on the street because it is so secluded with so few houses.
“But that’s been going on for the last 80 years,” Amico said.
He said he wasn’t fazed or made nervous at all by the apparent killing.
“The cops will take care of it and it’s none of my business,” Amico said.
The victim was not carrying identification, which contributed to the delay in making a positive identification.
He is described as a Hispanic male with a “chin-strap” style beard and short hair, police said.
He was 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 165 pounds, police said.
He was wearing a two-tone brown and beige long-sleeved shirt, denim jeans, a wide black belt, white Nike sneakers, and a two-tone hat, blue with a brown brim, Boston Red Sox hat.
His left hand had long fingernails, with an exceptionally long fingernail on his pinky, police said.
Police expect to release the victim’s name today.

From Capitalism To Creditism Have We Lost Our Way?
The Federal Reserve System, a giant quasi-government privately owned corporation was empowered in 1913 under the Federal Reserve Act. The bill passed Christmas eve in the dark of night when many American Patriots were on Christmas vacation with their families.Supporters argued that the Government is not suited to handle complex banking issues and would ultimately devalue the dollar and wreck the American economy. The irony today is monumental because from 1913 to today the system of credit to bankers for money has failed to the "N-Th" degree. If a dollar in 1913 bought a dollars worth, today that same dollar purchases about .02 Cents worth of 1913 goods.
This problem was the direct result of inflating the dollar supply and issuing credit to Americans who have lost a record amount of industry and productivity since then to now. Our entire economy rapidly moved from a manufacturing based economy to a service based economy where our nation is now dependent on slave labor from other nations who produce the inexpensive oil based products we love so much.
The crux today is that we have become completely dependent on credit in America, and of course I call this way of doing business "Creditism" where a majority of Americans cannot afford a home, a car, Furniture, a refrigerator, or stove. Bankers solved this problem for us with credit cards, consumer cards, and payment schedules that can drag on for 5-30 years.
As long as "Creditism" is alive and well and cheap affordable interest rates exist Americans continued to shop for new cars and invest in homes for profit. What we are seeing today in the global credit markets is the failure of these banks not only in America but across the world. Fear is rampant credit markets are frozen and investors are are scared.
The biggest fear is that Creditism is dead and now Capitalism is back, the party is over there is no borrowing money from foreign banks to live large off of small payments. Americans may now be forced into even greater productivity, and will need to reinvent the notion of trade and trust.
One thing I always believed is that in order for America to succeed in the world, and as a nation, we must take education seriously. Other nations, and especially China, graduate more scientists and engineers than the United States this poses what many experts have agreed is a "Brain Drain" that impacts the competitive nature of our country. Without a highly educated and skilled workforce America will be left in the dust globally. Big corporations, mostly those in science and technology here in America are increasing moving their companies off shore, or importing highly skilled workers from other parts of the world to solve their employee problems.
Without a highly educated and skilled workforce America could expect increased competition among unemployed workers for unskilled labor. This workforce, once more appreciated than today, does not yield the wages required to maintain the high standard of living that Americans were accustomed to. Moving into the next decade is going to be challenging, and without taking education in America seriously it will be even more difficult, if not impossible, to compete in the world wide global village that has been created.
Self serving bankers have historically steered clear of Capitalism. They still favor the concept of Creditism and it still continues to be promoted by the banks. Americans, many not knowing any better, embrace the idea that we can own things by borrowing money, paying interest and making payments on those items. Some may disagree but I personally believe that credit is the illusion of ownership, I dare call it a Ponzi scheme that caters to our consumer desires rather than the nurturing of sound economics. Sound economics being what Americans desperately need right now Savings, low credit card debt, more income, more education, and competitive skills to compete in the global economy. Until we make this as important as fighting the war on terror, than the growing group of despondent Americans will take to the streets in crime sprees to create an economy not based on productivity but criminal enterprising. This is something that any big city Mayor in Connecticut knows real well. This is something prison wardens know real well, and ignoring the millions of American's in prison, homeless and broke is not the answer.

Petty Thieves Hit Lexington Green
The wonderful development here in the North end of Milford, Lexington Green seems to always have its share of nuisances when it comes to petty criminals. This latest incident involved the theft of of two video game consoles and a purse from Oak Ridge Lane.According to the victim the game console can be identified as belonging to her kids because she initialed everything. The game console bore the initials "J" and or "B" and can be clearly seen in large letters.
Her neighbor was also the victim of a stolen purse, a purse that was taken from the inside of her car parked in front of her house. These thefts at Lexington Green and its associated two developments are not uncommon. Just last year vandals damaged the gazebo, spray painted profanities on the rocks by the gazebo, and followed up with a purple "W' painted on the main entrance.
Those responsible for these juvenile delinquent acts almost always trace back to local kids who either live in the development, or have parties where outside kids come into the development sometimes under the influence of alcohol and do damage to association property.
In the last year accidents have also been up as two light posts and a fence was taken down by distracted, or drunk drivers who failed to adequately pay attention to the road. Should anyone know of any information that can assist in reporting the names of individuals involved in these criminal acts, they are urged to contact the local Milford Police department, or me the neighborhood watch dog at (203) 247-4357.

Full CT Prisons = Free Felons!

There are many scary and shady characters that are in prison in CT, some like the felon depicted in this picture are beginning to get breaks they never before imagined.
Prison overcrowding has earned felons two major breaks so far. The first has been a lift on the parole ban of violent offenders, the second the lessoning of time in prison for drug related charges. Upon introduction back into society these felons will be assigned a probation officer who will expect them to get a job and be productive.
The first break came courtesy of Gov. Rell who was confronted with maxed out prisons that demanded some immediate answers. The lift on the Parole ban now means that Felons who were never eligible for parole can now be released at the discretion of a parole board. The judgment of the people on these parole boards was already problematic after two felons who were released committed some terrifying crimes against a doctor and his family in Cheshire about a year ago.
The other big break came courtesy of the Federal Government who felt minorities were serving unjustly long sentences for narcotics possession and use. The argument was that the punishment mandated by federal statue was too extreme for the casual user who kept getting caught up under the three strikes rule and then sentenced to a long prison term. To remedy the problem sentences are expected to be reduced and offenders are going to be subjected to more intense rehabs and programs like NA or AA.
The bigger picture here is that our streets, already pretty rough in some towns in CT are about to get rougher. The statistics and odds of repeat offences by parolees and narcotics convicts are very high. To make matters more interesting these inmates are excellent complainers who are able to exert their rights in court. Many judges, knowing that horrific deteriorating conditions are threatening the stability of the prison system are putting a lot of legal pressure on the state of CT to either reduce the prisoner population to acceptable levels or to build new prisons.
Both of these prospects are absolutely hard to accept, the state mired with debt, combined with a sensible populous here in CT do not want a prison built in their town. Prisons are the proverbial NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) of chaos in politics. The problem goes full circle when these early release prisoners raise local crime statistics and the cyclical debate of crime and prison construction come full circle.
This is a problem we can all monitor through local law enforcement and your police reports, should the new prisoner reduction policy in our state create a surge in crime we have our first clue that our state is now engaged in "revolving door" justice and on the path to NIMBY politics.
