The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles was once a practical and yet useful place to obtain a Drivers Licence, get your car inspected for safety and emissions and obtain the required paperwork to prove to the police you actually owned your car.
Over time the insurance lobby argued successfully that the DMV should insist that all Motorvehicles be insured. This was a major legislative victory that brought Billions in profits to the auto insurance industry. The system worked so well that towns adopted it to collect on outstanding property taxes on cars.
The Local Police Departments also loved the idea and soon if you owed on more than Five parking tickets then you were also denied your driving privilige. The DMV in Connecticut has not gone completely extreme like some states have, but the trend against personal liberty is alarming. Some states have implemented programs that deny DMV services to individuals that have past due child support obligations.
To make matters more interesting Connecticut recently joined Homeland Security in turning our DMV's into "report you neighbor" Stazi broadcast centers. This is a similar program that is expected to be adopted at 9,000 Walmart stores.
While the electronic billboards are relatively new, you will soon notice them while awaiting your number to be called. These billboards casually display DHS messages while you enjoy the latest pop gossip, stock reports and a message from Janet Napolitano asking the public to Rat on their friends and neighbors should they look "suspicious."
To make matters more troubling the Connecticut DMV is now linked to Fusion Centers, or those public data collection agencies who spy on the American public. Fusion Centers are highly secretive and operate outside the jurisdiction and management of Congressional oversight.
The Government recognizes that Driving is sacred to the public. Imagine what your life would be like if you were not allowed to drive your car? The DMV is being transformed into a battleground against the New World Order. We have seen this battle some years back when they were tasked to usher in the controversial Real ID act. Fortunately that bill died with the arrest of CT state Senator Deluca who had some very questionable ties to organized crime.
The issues facing the public, and the misuse and abuse of the Patriot act to suppress the angry public are of great concern to freedom loving people every where. While I do not advocate violence, I do advocate an Infowar against every Federally Elected criminal in Washington D.C. The most powerful weapon we have is our minds and our mouths. When combined with the truth they create an unstoppable movement that restores our nation to the place where it belongs, above reproach and a beacon of light that signal to the world that America's people will never take part in the evils of a Communist World Government.

Richetelli Denies Anger's Allegations
The following quote appeared on the Milford Musing Blog run by veteran reporter Frank Juliano regarding the recent federal lawsuit and allegations made against the city. "Mayor James L. Richetelli Jr. denied allegations in a federal lawsuit filed Tuesday by veteran assistant city attorney Cynthia Anger that she was fired because of her union-organizing activities.
But Larry Dorman, spokesman for AFSCME Council 4, said the union has filed a prohibited labor practice complaint against the city on those very grounds, and is seeking Anger’s reinstatement.
An informal hearing will be held March 23 in City Hall. If it is not resolved there it could go to arbitration, officials said."
This Richetelli rebuttal leads us no better off than when this first began, and the question still beckons what was his reasoning if his response directly challenges the thoughts of the person he fired?
This sounds like pure politics on the surface. This is also the first "non round-about" direct firing of a city employee by the Richetelli administration. Usually when a person crosses the Richetelli gang they end up being let go like Bob Adams, or in a manner that is very sneaky, confusing and stealthy never so abruptly.
Perhaps Anger was too well prepared for that kind of a practice and the direct approach was the only way he could exact his authority. Many people in town are still perplexed by this firing, few people were even aware that problems existed in the towns Law Department.
While we know that no one was previously fired for the failures of the Building Department, and no one said a word about firing anyone in the Tax Collectors office when their failure to collect taxes was outsourced. It would now appear that the Milford town authorities are only interested punishing those who are disobedient and disloyal to the expectations of their people.
Should Richetelli have fired someone in the building department, I think the town would have cheered. Had he fired someone in the tax collectors office for failure to collect the taxes he outsourced... the people probably would have understood and If he called for Barbara Lambert's resignation for playing Solitaire on the job he would have earned much public respect... but Cynthia Anger? We are still as perplexed today by this action as we were the moment it happened.
In all our endeavors, news articles and comments from locals it would appear that even Cynthia Anger appears to be confused as to why she was Fired. Can anyone explain how this is a justifiable dismissal I do'nt get it?

Watering Plants In Devon Once A Week "Isn't Possible" How Sad!
Mayor James L. Richetelli Jr. told the Devon committee that the Department of Public Works is "overburdened," and asking them to water plants and flowers once a week "isn't" possible. What is wrong with our leaders? How much work could it be to water some plants and flowers in key parts of town? The people of Devon would love nothing more than to have their main streets and beaches decorated with flowers and seasonal plants.
This is a very inexpensive trend that many cities use to beautify the local neighborhoods. In my opinion there is nothing more attractive than to drive up the street and see nicely planted flowers in the parks, beaches and business districts.
Many business owners would benefit from this type of beautification and although I cannot speak for every business owner, If the city gave me a flower pot to put in front of my business I would volunteer to care for it as I believe it would improve my business image.
Just for an instance let us say that the Devon Revitalization Committee approved 100 strategically placed flower pots at local beaches, public parks and within the business district. I would suppose that in one eight hour day, a high school kid with a summer job could effectively care for all of them with a water truck. Assuming the city cannot afford a water truck it may take twice that long, but in either case this lame excuse that it "Isn't Possible" is about as ignorant as the word "Isn't" of which "is not" proper English.
The photo above is of a very popular "adopt a spot" program where businesses are permitted to plant flowers on city property provided they maintain it. In exchange they get a small tasteful sign advertising their business. This has been done with great success throughout many towns in CT and beyond, including Westport.

United Illuminatings 3Q Profits up 75%
Today was the day I left my office to pay my electric bill at ShopRite on Cherry Street. While I was there it was an opportunity to speak to the desk clerk about local citizens, and business owners. They were kind enough to share their experiences with the power struggle in CT. The clerk told me that activity at the desk was higher than usual in the last year with more people paying their bill partially. This is consistent with the UI conference call that indicates their "Uncollected Recievables" to be higher.
Despite our personal energy struggles here in town, these higher rates have been great news for UI this third quarter. Even with the UI executives commenting on a warmer winter so far this year over last their per share jump grew by a whopping 75%. Most of these executives focused their time down playing this profit and redirected their conversation to all their liabilities of which include their Milford pollution project of a new power plant part of a 700 Million dollar upgrade in conjunction with Energy Inc. In other words it appears they they are "cooking the books" to hide their shameful 75% profit increase.
Gov. Rell indicated that CT has had its power nearly double over the last 7 years, and the massive UI conglomerate continues to aggressively pursue generation in CT. The DPUC on June 1st 08, is set to rule on the approval of this project, and yet there is still no comment on how these plants are going to produce energy. My concern is that if these projects, like the Norwalk Project now half done is going to be a gas based project.
The North East barely has enough gas to fuel our basic needs let alone power generation. If the construction of these "peak energy" plants, (of which I believe are just a ruse to take advantage of CT's outrageous electric costs) is going to burn natural gas than we will have more of a compelling reason for the construction of a massive LNG nightmare.
UI must be confronted on this as should be Jim Amann who opposed the "Windfall Profits Tax" that Blumenthal proposed. Milford residents keep getting betrayed on energy by politicians like Amann who continue to tell us one thing while deciding in favor of big corporations. Call Jim Amann and voice your opposition to the Milford power plant and the LNG that will soon be associated with it in our sound. Demand the implementation of the "Windfall profits tax."
