Chester First Selectman Tom Marsh Visits Milford Independents

Chester is a model town in the state of Connecticut, and so is its very proud Republican Mayor Tom Marsh who has the honor of presiding over the states most desirable town. Tom Marsh is currently a Republican seeking the Independent Party nomination to run for Governor.

He attended this evenings Milford Independent Town Committee Meeting along with Dr. Mertens who is also seeking the party nomination for the U.S. Senate. Both Mertens and Marsh were this evenings guest speakers and each spoke as to their unique qualifications for public office.

Mertens indicated that he is "ready to fearlessly confront the nations challenges," and criticized the failed policies of the two party system. Mertens who is a Engineer and teacher by trade, called Obamacare "flawed and is disappointed with the bill in its current form" but has agreed that something has to be done about this nations troubled health system.

He said Obamacare is a "starting point" and it will need serious reform if it will work for the people of Connecticut. Mertens also agreed with Telesca that the 15 state lawsuits challenging Obamacares Constitutionality are good. He and Mike both believes that the courts will make a determination on whether or not the "Commerce Clause" is in fact an issue. Mertens is also sceptical about its legal defeat, as he is of the opinion that the bill may not be un-Constitutional enough to satisfy the courts legal standard.

Mike Telesca, a cancer survivor himself, stated that during his treatment he was faced with severe financial challenges. Telesca said that "the hospital was charging him upward of $20,000.00 a day.." He said "a decision had to be made and I left the hospital many times earlier than I should have so I welcome anything that reforms this system of care."

Tom Marsh, was asked about his vision for Connecticut and quickly pointed out that there is party gridlock in the state Capitol. The Republicans want to stop spending, and the Democrats are under the direction of the unions. Marsh said that the "Current Speaker of The House Chris Donovan has more in common with a labor representative than a representative of the people."

Marsh also criticized Rells leadership, citing that "Hartford has not had any solid leadership in many years." Running as an Independent now, he believes, is the right move, especially with civil unrest and the steady public outcry for change that continues to grow.

Marsh said that he believes Voters will soon realize that there needs to be a "third choice come November" and he is hoping that those disenfranchised voters will be more inclined to vote for him on the Independent line.

The Milford Independent Party Celebrates Its Grand Opening With A Surprise Endorsement

The Milford Independent Party was standing room only at its 26 Broad Street location, the families and friends of all the candidates attended what was a very informative and spectacular event.

Most notable guests included a surprise visit from The Senior Agent of the Connecticut Independent Party Mike Terlesca. Mike Telesca, added the State Party endorsement of Peter Spalthoff to his already growing list of local endorsements.

Mike Telesca and the Independent Party Chairman rarely endorses candidates, but after getting to know Peter he drafted the following impressive letter below.

As the state Agent of the Connecticut Independent Party, I am proud to have been part of Milford’s independent movement since the first meeting was held here at your office some six months ago.

It has been indeed an honor and a privilege to work and know an individual such as yourself who has found the hidden secrets of successful leadership. Your principle of “people not politics” is in fact an important principle that the Ct Independent Party tries to instill in all of its candidates.

Over the last several months we have taken the time to get to know who you are, and clearly without a doubt you are among the pillars of Milford Ct. For those who do not know Mr. Telesca, he started the Independent Party in Waterbury Ct, and has gone on to win several local city positions for his party. Recently Mr. Teslesca was asked to consult for the state of Connecticut regarding the Green Party Lawsuit against the Citizens election campaign.

The Fledgling state program was remarkably impressed with Mr. Telesca because with his leadership last year he helped qualify the only 3rd. Party candidates in the state of Connecticut for public funding.

Mr. Telesca is a dynamo in the realm of third party politics in the state of Connecticut and his endorsement of Peter Spalthoff as the only Mayoral endorsement in the state of Connecticut is truly a great compliment to Peter.

The state party is now committing its resources to help Peter win this election come this November.

Milford Oyster Fest Posts Huge Turnout Despite A Little Rain

The Milford Oyster festival was a huge success marked with much community involvement from a plethora of small business owners, arts and crafts vendors, rides, and political celebrities.

The most notable guest of this years festival, besides Foghat, was Jim Amann's 2010 opponent for governor Jody Rell. Some have clamored the irony of her guest appearance here in Milford but she was not short of company as local politicians, including our mayor and other candidates here in town, were "glued" to her as she travelled from booth to booth.

To our disappointment her entourage came within our vicinity and stared at the Independent Party booth. One of our volunteers Terri, said they looked rather perplexed, unsure what to do and ultimately walked passed us as if it was the right thing to do. Others disagreed and thank Gayle Slossberg who greeted us with her entire entourage with hugs for some of us who are her fans. I also would like to thank Richard Roy our state Representative from the 119Th who also was polite, introduced himself and engaged in positive friendly chat and Mike Brown who openly introduced himself and invited me to meet my Democratic opponent.

When I first embarked on this venture for state Rep. I called Jim Amann who said it was rather "odd" that I made a request to meet with him since I was in the running against him. His refusal to meet with me was even more strange in that he decided not to run shortly after the request was made. The reason that I add this point here is because at no time is my door closed to meeting with my opponents or anyone with ambitions of taking office. I have not met both my opponents but while I was out canvassing I did have the opportunity to present myself to my Republican contender.

My door is always open to any and all leaders I hold no allegiance to any party, I pay no favors to anyone. My beliefs and faith are in the values and integrity of good people, especially those who keep our best interests at heart.

Independent Party Now At Milford Oyster Festival.

Today's blog is just a reminder to come meet and greet the Brass and muscle behind the Independent Party of Ct. The number of "unaffiliated" or as we like to say "Independents" has swelled year after year and is now the largest party in the state.

Come visit our booth, booth 13, right next to the flagpole on the green. In attendenace will be Mike Telesca our state Independent party chairman, Rocco Frank 118th Candidate For Milford State Rep., and other notable Independents. The focus of this event will also be to provide a service of registering new voters, disseminating information about registration party options and also fundraising activities selling popcorn, and soft drinks.

Most All merchandise will be sold at the minimum allowable by festival rules $1.00. Please do not miss an opportunity to visit the Independent party as they are often not this omnipresent.

Frank Recieves Official Endorsement of The Independent Party of Connecticut

On May 20, 2008 The Independent Party of Connecticut has formally endorsed Rocco J Frank Jr. for Connecticut State Representative in the 118th District in Milford Ct. After acareful scrutiny and strict evaluation Frank demonstrated himself as an impressive and well rounded candidate with real life experiences. Frank is a small business owner and CEO of ComputerFox stores located in several CT Towns, Frank is a past and or current member of the Kiwanis, Milford Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau, International Narcotics Enforcement Officers Assoc. and holds the honor of being a member of the Masonic family organization renowned for their support of children and the elderly, through Ashlar of Newtown, and the Shriner's Childrens hospital.

Frank has also instituted a county wide Identity theft and computer recycling program run in association with several Nature Centers to include the New Canaan Nature Center, and Westport's Earthplace. Frank also donates FREE quality computers to any Milford resident with children receiving state assistance.

On the political spectrum Frank was employed as a CT Deputy Sheriff, and was the spokesman for the Elected High Sheriffs Drug Awareness Program, and Child Identification Program, now modeled by the CT Freemasons. Frank was also President of local chapters of the Young Republicans, Served as finance chairman of the CT Young Republicans, and also was a past member of the Presidents Circle of the National Federation of Young Republicans. Frank has worked on numerous political campaigns, for state, and federal, elections including that of Current Sen. Judy Freedman.

Frank's most recent accomplishment was the abatement of MTBE or (Methyl Tertio Butyl Ether) from CT gasoline. Frank diligently worked behind the scenes to implement organize and obtain a historic unanimous committee vote to have this waterborne toxin removed from our water. Frank is also a graduate of Fairfield University and holds a B.A. in Political science, he has also attended the Connecticut school of Electronics post graduation and lived and studied in Italy for five years.

Mike Telesca Joins Frank Advisory Board

Mike Telesca The CT Independent Party Chairman, known for fighting corruption in Waterbury and holding an impressive record for electing Independents to city hall, has joined the Frank campaign as a top political advisor and consultant.

Dr. John Mertens: A former Independent Party CT candidate for U.S. Senate had this to say about Mike Telesca.

"Mike Telesca: Waterbury Town Chairman of the Independent Party, and Independent Party CT candidate for Lieutenant Governor. One of the greatest guys I know. He has been fighting corruption in Waterbury politics for years.
