Baby Seal Spotted In Milford

An unexpected visitor “hauled out” on a Woodmont beach Monday, drawing a crowd of onlookers.

A baby gray seal sunning itself on the rocks off Beach Avenue first caught the eye of a resident early Monday morning, leading to a steady stream of families gathering to check out the pup.

Soon After Opposing Law Construction, Richetelli And Lambert Condemn Boardwalk Cancellation

Just a few short days ago I was at city hall fighting for the Jonathan law expansion with Peter Spalthoff, and the city Alderman agreed with us that education is important. The Alderman Voted in favor of the Bonding and the kids of Milford scored a small victory.

This Boardwalk story today is a parody of this subject, and in lieu of those events has brought me a smile with some great irony. The irony here is that Lambert was absent at the Jonathan Law Meeting, she made no known comment on the school cutbacks, while Richetelli said the city is struggling and this is not the "right time" to be spending money on fixing up our schools.

Jonathan Law's Principal along with a platoon of concerned citizens asked for our kids to have proper facilities built including one Law student who said the condition of the restrooms are of grave concern and somewhat of a "joke" with the student body.

Still yet these important issues, (and after a few short days) are long forgotten, because Lambert and Richetelli would rather ignore the issue of Jonathan Law students being educated on carts, and "fly" down to the beach to demand our financially strapped state build Milford a giant Boardwalk.

Lambert has been heavily favored by the elderly here in town, as she herself is a volunteer and a senior at the Milford senior center. It is no secret that seniors in Milford are Anti-Education as they have made their voices heard loud and clear during the last tax increase. Lambert also received much needed support from seniors and has done little to push for a world class school system here in Milford. Lambert appears to support much of what seniors want.

While I must sit back in awe, as I watch this politically motivated beach spectacle take place, I must also stand dumbfounded that our leaders actually believe the state is going to build us a boardwalk ahead of fixing this states health care fiasco.

Rell already vetoed two bills, and CT has a 9 Billion Dollar Budget gap that is growing every day. One really has to wonder if our Lambert and Richetelli have any basis in reality on this boardwalk issue. While they both enjoyed some free press, I must sadly say... "Sorry Ms. Lambert and Mr. Richetelli if we cant afford schools, than it stands to reason that Milford cant afford a luxurious boardwalk."

Milford Beachfront Still Growing

This week ended with the tear down of 173 Seaside Ave. in Milford Connecticut. Out with old and in with the new breed of million dollar plus homes with views of the sound. A group of onlookers watched with awe as construction workers rocked the house and tore down walls to get this old home to drop. The plummet did not come easy, a small "dozer" was going full steam pulling with all its might as the wheels just spun and dug into the sand with no success.

Chains were then attached to the wood framing as courageous workers ran in and out of the unstable structure to get it to collapse. Finally the job was done and everyone in the neighborhood was relieved. But no one was more relieved than the neighbor just to the left of this home. His house just a few feet away was completely unscathed not even a scratch. This was a professional well done job.

Gas Prices Force Milford Boaters to Reinvent The Sport

The price of gasoline purchased at the dock is somewhat of a monopoly, and the price is usually 10%-20% higher than what you and I pay at the gas station. A modest size 25 foot power boat can hold up to 100 gallons of gasoline and at $5.00 a gallon a day trip out on the sound can get very expensive real fast.

Milford's die hard boaters have reinvented the sport and now practice sound conservation of gas consumption. Some just enjoy their boat at the dock take shorter trips and anchor longer at popular spots. Many people who enjoy fishing are now finding their friends asking for gas money to share in the daily cost of getting far out to the good fishing spots. Many are just putting their gas guzzlers for sale and are willing to accept lower prices for their boats.

This Fourth of July, however is expected to be the biggest boater day of the year as countless boat owners will take to the dawn sky in the hope of a spectacular view of the many fireworks shows peppered along the Long Island Sound.

For some boaters out there who just can't get enough of the sound and its associated fun it has been suggested to me by friends of mine who are boaters, to try and take up eco-friendly sailing. However not all people like sailing despite its gas saving appeal, some friends of mine who are die hard boaters have just downsized to smaller boats they can afford.

The good news is that boaters have sent their message loud and clear to the boating manufacturers and they have heard the "cry" as their sales plummeted. The boating industry has responded with a new breed of hybrid boats, one model by Craigcat boast a whopping 8rs. of entertainment on a gallon of gas, however the boat is very small and you probably will not be pulling a water skier.

Mike Telesca Joins Frank Advisory Board

Mike Telesca The CT Independent Party Chairman, known for fighting corruption in Waterbury and holding an impressive record for electing Independents to city hall, has joined the Frank campaign as a top political advisor and consultant.

Dr. John Mertens: A former Independent Party CT candidate for U.S. Senate had this to say about Mike Telesca.

"Mike Telesca: Waterbury Town Chairman of the Independent Party, and Independent Party CT candidate for Lieutenant Governor. One of the greatest guys I know. He has been fighting corruption in Waterbury politics for years. He first worked as a member of the Democratic Party, but finally gave up working within the system, and founded the Waterbury chapter of the Independent Party in 2003. His candidates subsequently won four seats on the city’s board of alderman."

Frank personally met with Mike Telesca in Waterbury, and also concurred with with Dr. Mertens, only adding that "Mike is a true patriot, he has dedicated countless hours, fought in numerous political and legal battles with the Secretary of States office, and has impressively gave life to the Independent Party here in Connecticut." Frank also added "Mike's efforts have not gone unnoticed because new candidates like myself are emerging all the time, and the Independent Party is the only party that has kept up with the needs and demands of local citizens who want more accountability of the Republicans and Democrats. Independents are answering the voters cry for an unbiased and nonpartisan approach to politics."

Frank has also said, that he is honored to have Mike on board, and is confident that his stellar record and experience will land him in the legislature as Connecticut's first Independent State Representative. Frank also added that there is a very loud call from the majority of voters, who are Independent, to have more nonpartisan leadership in Hartford. Frank said that "it is obvious how people feel, ask just about anyone and you will hear how they prefer Independent voices in government, while shunning partisan bickering." Frank promises to be the first to bring about an independent and objective approach to party leadership, marking a change from the way the establishment in Hartford is used to conducting business.
