Last year both Democrats and Republicans took credit for the citywide tax decrease; however both sides neglected to mention they borrowed the money to do it. This borrowing increased our debt to 240M in 2010, not including interest.



The "Entrenched Two Party Leadership" also fattened their pension fund to an astounding $320M. In turn, the People of Milford were left with a current estimated 300M in 2011 debt... and the “mad rush” to now deplete the pension fund is making it look like a developing Ponzi scheme.

Since 2008! The CAFR's (Comprehensive Audited Financial Results) indicate our city liabilities are growing at an alarming 17.7% per year, while our city assets are growing at 6.6% per year.


Neither democrats nor, Republicans want to admit that their collective leadership and “voodoo economics” is the root cause of Milford "Heading of a Cliff!!"


While I have no intention of arguing with the selective accounting at City Hall, I do take issue with the practice of borrowing new money at lower interest rates, to pay off higher interest rates. This is not a serious plan and it’s done nothing to stem the tide of our growing liabilities, we need something more professional than just “juggling the interest on our credit cards.”

In order to seriously deal with this grave financial issue, big Developers, Law Firms and special interests have to understand that they are second to getting our finances in order. This, however, is a difficult task when both my opponents each owe favors to the corporate donors who “buttered their bread.” It’s my job to present the facts, hopefully the non-voters will be motivated to come out and vote en-masse, to put an end to the "High jacking" of our city!


Milford’s “high jackers” have their eyes set on 200 Million dollars. You can be assured that there are many special interests who want more of that money for themselves, and sadly they are stealing it. They cheat us taxpayers by way of crony job appointments, no bid contracts, double dipping, nepotism, favoritism, undeserved bonuses and bigger government. My silent opponent’s, and their political parties, rely on you being uniformed; it’s what keeps them in power and loving Milford!

Thus far this year, I have shredded thousands of dollars in checks and refused all special interest money. We are not for sale and will not endorse any future candidate unless they guarantee us oversight! Personally, I choose to run my campaign with little to no money because most every sizable donation offered me came with a set of terms. The best type of victory is one where past non voters enthusiastically vote against corruption, and ordinary citizens organize on their own without expectations. Hopefully I have earned your trust and support.

Milford Recycling Center Creates Human & Animal Wellfare Concerns

About a year ago a Corporation well known for their multiple violations and questionable shady work/business tried to get zoning approval to build a new dump and recycling facility at 990 Naugatuck AVE. Milford Ct. This proposed facility would be accessed from both ends of Naugatuck ave and also by water via the Housatonic river. They would be receiving upwards of 1,000 TONS! of trash and garbage PER DAY! from surrounding cities such as Bridgeport,Stratford,Orange,Derby, Shelton ect. and thanks to the support of the community we were able to shut down their attempts of turning our beautiful neighborhood into another dumping ground.

However they have come back and re-filed for approval under a "New" ownership claim even though they were told NO once before. Since that time the same trucks and dumpsters, with the same Company name, (to this day 5/16/2011) have been making their rounds at 1, 2,3, & 4AM.  We believe they are illegally dumping "who knows what" in the secrecy of the night.

Now as many of you know, or may not know, Naugatuck Ave. is a neighborhood road that runs from I-95 to Exit 36. It also goes all the way to the shores of Walnut beach of which is filled with families many of whom have small children and NO sidewalk. Now this alleged "NEW OWNER" wants to have Dump trucks filled with tons of trash come barreling down YOUR kids neighborhood to dump other peoples trash in "YOUR BACKYARDS!!!"

Other serious concerns will include LESS traffic safety in our neighborhood and excessive road wear including pot holes and pavement warping characteristic of heavy trucks. Its bad enough there are no sidewalks on Naugatuck ave and that the LAWS PROHIBITING tractor trailers and heavy trucking to use Naugatuck Ave. are broken daily, but now we have to worry about the safety of our children, pets and ourselves when walking down the street even more then before.

Property values will be negatively impacted. (Realtors warned us as to the difficulty of selling homes next to a dump)

Other well known hardships of living next to a dump, include disease carried by Mice, Rats, Raccoons, Possum and plenty of Seagulls who pick up and carry germ laden garbage around the surrounding residential areas and yards where children play.

For those who have had the experience of visiting the local dump (CRRE Transfer Station) have heard the noise and commotion from only the few tractors and compactors. Imagine Big Dump trucks coming down YOUR street all day hauling trash 100's of times our local volume. Also lets not forget the added odor induced hardship that already engulfs the EXISTING City Dump.

Recently our taxes have just started to repair Naugatuck Ave's pavement after years of neglect. By allowing more than 1,000 TONS of trash to be hauled up and down our local neighborhood streets local taxpayers will be unwillingly subsidizing the excessive road wear and repair on behalf of an objectionable Corporation. Overweight and heavy trucks rapidly deteriorate local roads at three times the normal pace of a regular community road. (Thats why they are currently being repaired again.)

ACCESS TO THE HOUSATONIC RIVER will be impeded and its recreational use will be restricted. This is because, in that area, there is only ONE access point to the Housatonic River for Milford CT. Years ago our city had Two access points, one was behind the Caswell Cove complex but that area is now blocked by Cement poles that Caswell Cove installed.  Their permit has stopped Milford Tax Payers from using common CITY PROPERTY IN THE WAY THEY WERE ONCE ACCUSTOMED.) The poles remain, under the objections of the local residents who are cut us off from their own river.

The only other remaining access point our city has left is the boat launch under the I95 bridge that has been closed for the last 2 years or more. This closing is due to continuous highway repairs. The bridge will "later reopen" once those "repairs" have been completed.

The caveat of a dump approval will render the final recreational access point to the Housatonic River "off limits." The ramp will no longer be usable because the site business plan and their admission calls for frequent barges delivering ecologically hazardous waste up and down our local river.  As a final point, I would also mention that fisherman have expressed objection due to the fact that large trash filled barges interfere with water crafts and habitats in the river.They have cited many well known studies on how plastic bottles, broken glass, and rusty metals present severe hazards to aquatic wildlife.

Budget Woes Give Many Educators Anxiety

In a scenario likely to be repeated across Connecticut, federal funds that cover the salaries of 30 city teachers will likely not be renewed for the 2011-12 school year, leaving educators scrambling to make up a looming deficit. Milford is only one of scores of school districts in the state that would struggle to make up for the loss of federal stimulus money, which could potentially result in massive teacher layoffs statewide for the 2011-12 school year.

Acting Superintendent R. Michael Cummings Jr. will prepare a budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1 with the assumption that little, if any, of the $1.5 million will be replaced. "I'm very pessimistic that we'll be getting any of that next year, and that means we'll have 2 percent less than we do now.''

Smith Calls Truce To Milford Sign War

From Labor Day through Election Day, “politics” and “yard signs” go together like turkey and Thanksgiving.


That could have all changed, as Democrats proposed creating a political yard sign pact with Republicans Tuesday. Both parties would have banned political signs for the 2011 municipal election.

However, the city’s top Republican Tuesday said anybody already thinking of the next election, which is a long way off, “needs to get a life.”

Democratic Town Chairman Richard Smith, in a press release Tuesday, said numerous voters expressed their “frustration and fatigue” with political signs “cluttering and littering their streets and neighborhoods.”

Five Thousand Connecticut Charities Threatened By Feds, Many Will Lose Exemption Status.

Recently I learned that nearly 25% of all 501C3 charities are being investigated. The attached PDF was sent to me by an Inside source who is also growing increasingly concerned with the Federal Governments use of the IRS to wage economic warfare on the state of Connecticut. Just last week an email arrived to me that depicted Connecticut and its residents as "ground zero" of the economic malaise being levied on our citizens.

Most Charitable organizations live in fear of the Government, I heard a story where a church "endorsed" a Pro-Life Pro-God candidate and that small "House of God" was treated like a "Den of Inequity" by the Feds who revoked their 501C3 essentially putting them out of business. The idea that the government is allowed to bully any charitable organization with an opinion, or who supports a candidate for office through their parish is really dis-heartening and an unfair encroachment by our country, who in its pledge of allegiance admits we are "one nation under God."

When a nation through a "heavy handed government" uses fear and intimidation to destroy the very moral fabric of society, including those who wish to help the disadvantaged, support minority and women's rights, foster education, and benevolent food and shelter organizations for the hungry are doomed to imperil the very land we call home. This imperilment will result in a world where the government will be directly responsible to help every disadvantaged person, and every disadvantage person will be dependent on the government for all that they have.

Social services in Connecticut is already mired in debt, in previous years massive amounts of energy assistance was doled out, affordable housing is in continuous demand, and food stamps are at a record high not only here in Connecticut but nationwide where 50+ plus million people are actively using them.

What this has done to Connecticut and new England is clear, it has become a target of the Federal Governments agenda to spread the wealth, and with the health care tax on its way in conjunction with the propensity for new tax increases in 2011 as the Bush tax cuts expire, this nation and Connecticut is in for a very troubled future. To prove my point here, the following article was featured in Money magazine and CLICK HERE it shows that the "per capita debt in the state of Connecticut is the highest in the nation" and eerily warns us that our state is on a "steady march toward bankruptcy.

While the Federal Government has the ability to print money at will, and use complex financial tools like "quantitative easing" to purchase its own bonds the state of Connecticut has to borrow all that it cannot come up with. Not since the 1890's has our state had a sovereign currency. Had our state created currency not been taxed out of existence by the Feds in the early 1900's CT may still have its own version of a sovereign independent monetary system today. While some argue this would create chaos others like representative Ron Paul have argued that "competing currencies" would be a good thing for the stability of our nation and protect us from the misplaced power of the federal reserve.

However unlikely that we would have our own currency, the problem of monetary abuse by the Feds and the US Treasury is merely aggregate to the compounded problem of the government being on every one's backs. This year the IRS is adding to its ranks 16,500 new health care tax collectors. They are expected to nearly double the Feared IRS in size and invade the last bastion of legitimate productivity and job creation; small Mom and Pop and father and son businesses. This is guaranteed to squeeze the life out of whats left of the U.S. and Connecticut's economy.

The march is on, the food pantry's are low to empty on food and now we need to be actively concerned and organized with a new form of governmental injury against low income Americans.

Fanciful recycled chairs created by Connecticut artisans such as Denise Morris Curt, Rosemary Celon-Gordon and Ren Farnsworth, will be auctioned to benefit the United Way and to help promote green living.

The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, music, a champagne and wine bar and tours of the store in a pedicab. Pilgrim City Furniture at 1755 Boston Post Road is the site of the largest solar photovoltaic installation on a commercial business in New England.

Baby Seal Spotted In Milford

An unexpected visitor “hauled out” on a Woodmont beach Monday, drawing a crowd of onlookers.

A baby gray seal sunning itself on the rocks off Beach Avenue first caught the eye of a resident early Monday morning, leading to a steady stream of families gathering to check out the pup.
