There are several charities that are accepting Christmas gifts and donations of any sort to be sent to our troops oversea. The postal deadline for having any boxes shipped is this Monday. Thereafter there is no guarantee that your packages will arrive before the holidays.
There are some shipping changes this year that also need to be considered when sending your packages. The main change is that due to security reasons the DOD now requires that your deliveries be addressed to a specific individual. If anyone has any concerns about how to properly label your box then contacting a local VFW will get you the answers you need.
Our local VFW here in Milford can be contacted at (203) 874-9982 and are located at 422 Naugatuck Ave. The VFW also has its own program for supporting our troops overseas during the holidays and anyone taking up community or large donations of goods should contact the VFW to arrange for the proper delivery of those items to our troops.
As a final note I would like to thank all of our troops for their courage and support of each other while fighting on behalf of our country overseas. My heart is with every soldier and contractor who has been separated from their family this holiday season. My family and I pray each day for the safe return of all our soldiers. Happy holidays, and all the best wishes from the entire staff here at the Frank campaign.

The 2008 Youtube Presidential Debate
The Youtube Presidential debate last night was something new for me. The videos that were both creative animations, and questions were directed at the Republican candidates who then answered in a 90 second response. Rebuttal was allowed for up to 30 seconds on questions that challenged another contender.
The hot issue of the debate was Rudi Giuliani who was accused of misusing his security detail funds to engage in visits to his Long Island mistress while still married. The hotter and more contentious issue was on immigration where a sparring of words transpired between Romney and Giuliani over immigration.
Guiliani accused Romney of employing illegal immigrants at his mansion, while Romney called Guiliani soft on illegal immigration and went even further accusing Guiliani of making New York a magnet city for illegal immigrants.
Ron Paul the "dark horse" of the debate was given questions that in my opinion were nothing more than outrageous and not Germain to anything more than irrelevant esoteric topics that have not touted the true success of his candidacy.
To sum up this entire debate from my own opinion, I must point out that the majority of debacles were largely left untouched. There were no sufficient answers or questions on our failing health care system, failing economy, Katrina, California fires, and our loss of civil liberties due to the burgeoning threat and fear of terrorism. Most disappointingly not one question addressed a single problem caused by the lack of competent leadership under the present administration who has tripled the size of our government and racked up more debt than any administration in the history of the United States.
What was most disappointing about last nights youtube debate was the unprofessional manner in which Guiliani and Romney were allowed to double talk each other while Anderson Cooper just idly sat by as they both were talking at the same time. The manner in which CNN organized the questions of this debate, probably made, now blacklisted Dan Rather, glad he is out of the news business.
But Dan Rather and a host of his support sites, one in particular called rathergate.com has called the entire Youtube debate B.S. While Dan Rather feels he was the victim of backlash from the Bush Administration, the other great journalist and critic of the post 9/11 era is forever silentPeter Jennings dies of lung cancer.
The tragedy here, is that Anderson Cooper a young Vanderbilt, Grandson to the 2nd wealthiest person on earth and former CIA operative was in charge of our public opinion last night. The whole thing was very upsetting to me. The debate felt more like a CIA mind control event swayed toward the goals and objectives of Americas ruling Oligarchs.

America Dictatorship or Democratic Republic?
Author Naomi Wolf, has written another book and this one suggests that our great nation is on the abyss of collapse to dictatorship. Perhaps Naomi is just an alarmist but the concern over the U.S. Constitution is a growing aspect of the Presidential arena. To start with here is a few quotes from our political leaders.
Pres. George Bush "The Constitution is just a piece of paper."
Sen. Chris Dodd "You will get your Constitution Back."
Gen. Tommy Franks says "that if the United States is hit with a weapon of mass destruction that inflicts large casualties, the Constitution will likely be discarded in favor of a military form of government."
U.S. Rep. Ron Paul calls himself the "Champion of the US Constitution."
Currently in the post 9/11 world new and powerful transitions of power have gone to the White House. These power shifts, power taken away from the people, are due to the suspension of Habeas Corpus, suspension of the Posse Comitatus Act, Patriot Act 1, Patriot Act 2, Thought Crimes (Bill not yet passed) and many other like bills not mentioned.
Congress and the White House has some of the lowest approval and job ratings in history. This clearly shows the growing discord and dissatisfaction that has been around since the second term of the Bush Administration began. The concept of a revolution however, has been around since 1776. Why Naomi is so alarmed can only be explained in her own words, and yet now I question has America become a Dictatoship with a less powerful underlying Democratic Republic? Or does people power and the Constitution still rule. Let us think more about this and gather our thoughts if nothing else, but I am certain about one thing and that is vigilance starts with our government.
Naomi Wolf who was featured in today's broadcast on the GCN radio networks Alex Jones show, also posted a previously recorded very informative video. This video, obtained from Youtube is shared below for your review and commentary.

From Global Warming to Weird Science
When I was a young kid I remember lots of snow each and every winter, I remember the snow plows in CT, NY, and NJ all the places that I once lived. As the years passed through my own eyes and the eyes of countless others I watched from season to season the waxing and waning of snow and heat.
Looking back now as an adult with a full 20 years of seasonal memories it is all but indisputable that the snow has done more waning than waxing. Listening to the complaints of the people who once made a lucrative snow plowing income, is an alarming sign that the snow industry here on coastal CT has been decimated.
For decades "Global Warming" and its link to our toxic CO2 auto exhaust has been blamed, and even more to blame our voracious consumption of fossil fuel products to maintain our pampered spoiled American lives. In all fairness lets not forget the last earthly crisis caused by human gas emissions. Much in the same alarmist manner as the CO2 fright fest there was once a scientific CFC panic. During this time we were all confused about aeresol cans as we were told our love of spraying was largely to blame for a giant hole in the ozone layer. That problem is apparently fixed because no one is very concerned enough to talk about it anymore.
However, the science of Global Warming is becoming more Science Fiction than Science Fact, and I attest to the weird science only, not the obvious indisputable warming that is an "open eyed" fact. To clarify this point, countless scientists, and researchers and media watchers have seen the Glaciers melt, have experienced the warmer winters and have noted the strange weather patterns. These are all a new and curious reality about our climate change on earth, the weird science occurs when Al Gore, The English Court, John Coleman, and incredibly Martian Ice is added to the equation.
To explain further, Al Gore (The only non-scientist) receives the Nobel Peace prize for his Global warming documentary "an Inconvenient Truth." Shortly after the British retaliate against his work and file suit calling his movie classroom propaganda. The British court agrees after experts called to testify debunk virtually everything in his entire documentary as factually inaccurate.
To add insult to injury, John Coleman the founder of the Weather Channel goes further and calls Global Warming a "The Greatest Scam in History." With that not enough some rogue thinking scientists decided to look at the ice caps on other planets to see how they were faring free from all our people and pollution. Strangely enough the ice caps on Mars are also retreating.
The absolute chicanery here is why in the world is the Earth warming? Could the Sun be getting hotter? What is the real science? I think some of the most respected and notable experts in America are today more confused than ever. There is always of course the Conspiracy theorists who always manage to think they figured everything out. They lead us to believe that this Global Warming Hoax is to implement a New World Order Tax in the form of a Carbon Tax every person on earth will be forced to pay. This tax, of course, will be used to limit the pollution that is heating Earth as the Weird Scientific data shows to be absolutely inconclusive.
Certainly I will personally say, once again, that I am no scientist or expert in the science of global warming, but I am adamantly against pollution. Ozone pollution is one Co2 problem that is prevalent in Fairfield County CT. Anything that pollutes our air should be a reason to oppose the polluters. My opposition on this issue does not stop at just Co2 pollution, it also extends to chemicals that pollute the air in our homes as well as cigarette smoke.
To summarize my views on Global Warming, we can simply say that I could care less about anything more than achieving clean air and renewable energy save the weird science and its associated tax scheme. I also believe that people in general would also support clean air and less taxes. As far as the bigger picture, it is clear to me that there is still too much confusion with too little science. The only part that matters to me as a potential legislator is all of us breathing easier, and breathing only the emissions of energy independent technologies.

Ron Paul Supporters Arrive to Milford
The first of the pre-presidential primary supporters have arrived to Milford in force. While there have been previous Paul supporter visits during the last Milford Oyster Festival, these folks are now stepping things up and campaigning harder than before.
The Paul support group arrived at the Post Plaza Mall in Milford where they chanted and greeted local Milford Residents in a push for local support. Ron Paul dubbed "The Dark Horse" has been shocking the foundation of political establishments everywhere. His last big shocker was his "Guy Falk" day fundraiser where Paul raised an astonishing 4.2 Million Dollars in one day, and the "Ron Paul Revolution" is not over. On December 16, 2007 the Ron Paulers plan to strike again with a renewed "Boston Tea Party" The purpose of this event is to raise an "earth Shattering" Ten Million Dollars from over 100,000 donors in a single day.
The Milford Locals seen around town are part of the Fairfield and New Haven County Ron Paul Meetup Groups. They are the ones placing signs along the Milford Post Road and organizing at public events. They are also more visible than any other "in town" presidential candidate supporters.
Ron Paul opponents have dubbed these types of exuberant activists as "Paultards," whereas a "Paultard" according to www.paultard.com is a "socially-networked bot-net of mechanical turks who support presidential candidate Ron Paul." Alex Jones of infowars.com and an avid supporter of Ron Paul responded to this allegation by stating that "socially-networked bot-nets" do not donate millions of dollars, nor are they capable of mustering real people who give real money.
Alex also has gone further and purchased a prestigious "zogby poll" where Ron Paul emerged as the clear winner on the issues. Jones does concur however, that Ron Paul does continue to suffer in name recognition due to the lack of established media coverage of him.
Ron Paul According to the Jones Poll is described as follows:
"Candidate A is a 10-term US Congressman from a large Southern state who is an advocate for a smaller government and individual liberty. This candidate believes in strictly following the Constitution and has never voted to raise taxes. He has never voted in favor of the war in Iraq or the Patriot Act, and wants to bring troops home as soon as possible. As a former doctor, this candidate has delivered more than 4,000 babies. One of this candidate's goals is to return America to the gold standard, and he believes that the current monetary policy needs to be drastically overhauled because of the dollar's decline."
With these impressive results from this newest Zogby poll it is just a matter of time before his message becomes more widespread and generally accepted. A Ron Paul Victory would be the greatest challenge to Hillary Clinton and set the groundwork for a unique Libertarian reformation of Government organization and power.

Sheff v. O'Neill CT's Being Sued Again
The NAACP has said that the state of Connecticut has been given nearly a decade to desegregate the Hartford School system, and like schools that are racially imbalanced. The imbalances according to experts are largely due to socioeconomic factors of urbanization, industry investment, real estate policy, pay inequity, and the unspoken policy and practice of race evasion by the private sector.
There is no doubt that the NAACP case has merit and Connecticut has been slow to respond. They have been so slow that as of November a sleuth of subpoenas landed our states top brass back in court.
One person in particular questioned by Ralph Urban Esq. the NAACP attorney is Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management Robert Genuario. Genuario is an attorney and state senator from Norwalk CT who was appointed to his post by Gov. Rell. Mr. Genuario was being questioned regarding the progress made by the state of CT in its construction and implementation of 7 magnet schools in the Hartford area.
Secretary Genuario indicated that he participated in meetings to address the legal mandates regarding Sheff v. O'Neill he indicated that the state legislature did not approve as much funding as he hoped but did succeed in getting almost one half of the total requirements put through. He also cited collusion of power between the competing branches of government that made the implementation of the court order an arduous task.
The secretary feels that the main problem with full compliance with the Federal Court Order is the overall cost of implementing it. School construction is very expensive and over half of our state bonding debt, now 14.5 Billion, is tied up in school construction projects. This debt is the equivalent of $15,000.00 for every man, woman, and child in CT and consumes 11 Cents of every tax dollar in interest.
His message to the NAACP is that CT, now having the third highest bonding debt in America, simply cannot afford to rapidly build the schools demanded by the court order. Under the current pressures they are doing the best they can without incurring any additional bonding debt. To do so is to potentially destroy the states credit rating making an already bad financial situation even worse.
This case is still ongoing in Hartford superior court, and as a matter of opinion I can certainly agree that education is a desperate situation not only in CT but everywhere. I spent some time reading up on this issue of race inequity and segregation and have come to the conclusion that this issue is enormous and will require the resources of every school in the state if it is to be fixed.
My personal opinion has always been that the best way to desegregate our schools, and to improve education is to get the support of our major colleges and universities. To cut the cost of education to our state, and improve the resources available to low income inner city students, state, local, and private universities should be encouraged to open their doors to state funding to build and expand their campuses to encourage magnet school integration and resource sharing.
The very merger of High School and college in poor inner cities can potentially present envious opportunities for children who are not currently being properly educated. It will also put experienced educators and business managers in charge of education funding and tax dollar allocation.
The state already spends hundreds of millions doing a job that it has yet to be successful at. My personal belief is, that an inner city high school, for example, located on the campus of Yale University would be praised and supported by the highest and brightest levels of government at all levels, including some of the brightest students in the world at the disposal of teachers. This is just one of my "out of the box" innovative thoughts. While I must admit I am no expert on this issue, it certainly is a worthy proposal and possible solution to a decade old problem.
The question remains however, do the universities want to go into the business of educating younger students with state and local tax dollars. I personally feel that this should be explored.

Rosa DeLauro Tackles Obesity.
Our U.S. Representative in Milford CT and beyond, plans to tackle obesity. On Saturday, November 10Th she introduced legislation entitled (MEAL) or The Menu Education and Labeling Act. The purpose of this bill is to educate consumers of fast food as to nutritional ingredients, these include fat, sugars, sodium, etc. contained in the food we eat.
This is a great piece of legislation and I hope it passes. For one I never really knew how unhealthy fast food can be and to pick on one culprit out of many, I would like to single out McDonald's. This one is one I personally know from eating there myself and also because I saw the "Supersize Me" documentary. If no one has seen "Supersize Me" I highly recommend it as it will enlighten you as to the health effects and nature of cheap fast food.
DeLauro, in introducing this bill does however, appear to be having a change of heart when it comes to the fast food giants. Delauro voted against H.R. 554 or the October 2005 Personal Responsibility in Food Consumption Act. This was a bill that passed the house with an overwhelming majority. This bill also known as "The Cheeseburger Bill" would have allowed for the fast food giants to be liable for wrongful deaths as a result of their product being abused.
Why the change in heart? I cannot answer this but I can say that her voting record on fast food accountability is now inconsistent. My personal view is that rather than allow for the litigation of these big companies they should share in the high cost to hospitalize the low income people who end up sick because of their products. While I am no scientist, I think it is reasonable to assume that the food served by these establishments is of poor quality and a major contributor to diseases like diabetes.
This bill that DeLauro is introducing is a good bill, it is also a good start but I personally feel it does not go far enough in holding these nutritional culprits nearly as accountable as the they should be. I would be really excited to know that this bill is was followed by a 10% health care tax to assist Husky in treating the uninsured, children and poor elderly.
The reason this food exists is because of the food codex or "Codex Alimentarius" and American's despertion for cheap food. The food codex itself must be changed if we are to protect every American. The video below is a funny cartoon of what types of additives can be placed in food to keep the cheap. The main ones are those that allow the food to have a higher shelf life, or cheap additives and fillers that can be cut with quality ingredients to keep the cost down.

Amann Wants to "Buy Your Vote!"
This is a quote taken from the movie Brewster's Millions, the movie is very apropos in lieu of the billions in bonding. There is one exception however, that the Millions Brewster was squandering was his inheritance, this made the movie rather funny. Amann on the other hand is squandering millions of your and my money, not even money that we have but rather money he has charged to our tax payer "credit cards."
Amann has yet to miss a photo opportunity to hand out a fat check. Just today in the CT Post he is brandishing a big fat check for a catholic school, last month he was charging up the largest boardwalk in CT, and the limelight surrounding his spending spree continues.
Meanwhile he swears on his latest Youtube video that all this money secured through bonding was because of Jody Rell that he has no control over the money issued, and yet he is going from charity to charity handing out money like a "drunken sailor."
Just yesterday, an old timer, and Korean War Veteran from Devon came in to my headquarters and said that there was a time when Milford really benefited from Amann's "liberal" spending approach to government. He, like many others in his circle of friends believe that such an approach is no longer good for Milford or CT.
The true issues of bonding are being neglected, and to take today's CT Post article to heart one must read on about the crisis in our prisons, a crisis that can only be resolved by more bonding debt. This debt however, is already critical due to special pet projects that Amann has so deliberately mis-prioritized to buy your vote. Continued spending leaves CT Citizens at risk for a repeat of horrible crimes commited in Cheshire by early parolees.
Additionally, an increasingly desperate situation is culminating in the next few years because of "Peak Oil," already now being debated by legislators in Hartford and presented on CT T.V. This coming energy crisis is serious, and addressing the problem is urgent. Unattainably high energy prices, are expectet to leave our schools hotter in the summer, colder in the winter, and stress out every tax payer with unconscionably high property taxes in a time of high forclosures. Mr. Amann's "Robin Hood" era will soon come to an end.
Once this occurs, the truth shall prevail about his true popularity when he is unable to use the state credit card to "Buy Your Votes."

Fed's Confiscate Private Bullion in Indiana.
Liberty Dollar Company Announcement
Thursday, November 15, 2007
Dear Liberty Dollar Supporters:
I sincerely regret to inform you that about 8 this morning a dozen FBI and Secret Service agents raided the Liberty Dollar office in Evansville, Indiana.
For approximately six hours they took all the gold, all the silver, all the platinum, and almost two tons of Ron Paul Dollars that were just delivered last Friday. They also took all the files and computers and froze our bank accounts.
We have no money. We have no products. We have no records to even know what was ordered or what you are owed. We have nothing but the will to push forward and overcome this massive assault on our liberty and our right to have real money as defined by the U.S. Constitution.
We should not be defrauded by the fake government money.
But to make matters worse, all the gold and silver that backs up the paper certificates and digital currency held in the vault at Sunshine Mint has also been confiscated. Even the dies for minting the gold and silver Libertys have been taken.
All this has happened even though Edmond C. Moy, the director of the U.S. Mint, acknowledged in a letter to a U.S. senator that the paper certificates did not violate Section 486 and were not illegal.
But the FBI and Secret Service took all the paper currency too.
The possibility of such action was the reason the Liberty Dollar was designed -- so that the vast majority of the money was in specie form and in the people's hands. Of the $20 million Liberty Dollars, only about a million is in paper or digital form.
I regret that if you are due an order, it may be some time until it will be filled, if ever. It now all depends on our actions.
Everyone who has an unfulfilled order or has digital or paper currency should band together for a class-action suit and demand redemption. We cannot allow the government to steal our money.
Please don't let this happen.
Many of you read the articles quoting the government and Federal Reserve officials saying the Liberty Dollar was legal. You did nothing wrong. You are legally entitled to your property. Let us use this terrible act to band together and further our goal -- to return America to a value-based currency.
Please forward this important alert so everyone who possesses or uses the Liberty Dollar is aware of the situation.
Please go here to sign up for the class action lawsuit and get your property back:
http://www.libertydollar.org/classaction/index.php
Thanks again for your support at this darkest time as the damn government and its dollar sinks to a new low.
Bernard von NotHaus, Monetary Architect
Liberty Dollar
Evansville, Indiana
For Some time now I have adopted the position that CT should issue its own currency as a safety net against the dollar. This video below is yet one more example on how well it would work. This again has also been legally done in New Hampshire, but not insofar as actually being backed by something other than an "Empty Promise" from our Federal Government who insists on oppressing the value of our money through inflation.
This video explains what Liberty Dollar stood for.

Sakhalin & Environmentalists challenge "Peak Oil"
The notion of "Peak Oil" may soon be a myth, with the re-emergence of the Russian empire at its helm. While many old timers during the Reagan Gorbachev era thought Russia had gone bankrupt and then into a group of dissenting rogue colonies, may soon be disappointed to know that this could become cold war history.
The Russian oil empire, is growing again, and this time the success of Lukeoil may be pale in comparison. At the farthest reaches of the Russian empire every major corporate giant and their friends are building the largest oil and gas project ever created. This project is so enormous that the Discovery channel has featured it on their "Building the Ultimate" series. Some of the oil exploration rigs can only be built at the largest shipyard on earth of which is located in South Korea.
This construction is currently underway on the economically challenged island of Sakhalin. This area once a struggling fishing and timber based community has now become a international city comprised of five thousand foreigners from the oil and gas exploration and construction industry.
The local, Russian natives, needless to say are not happy with the unwelcome intrusion and have staged several environmental protests including the obstruction of routes and aggravated construction delays and protests. With Global billions in international investment already made, all environmental and ecological concerns are being placated but not tolerated insofar as stopping the completion of this mammoth project. Oil and Gas is expected to begin flowing within the next three years alleviating most peak oil concerns for a while.
If the projected estimates of the attainable gas and oil are correct this project will save the world from the fear of peak oil for the next several decades, and in the process will make Russia the dominant oil superpower in the world. Russia's thirst for oil is still not over, even despite this large discovery, believe it or not they are claiming the North Pole all its oil, Gas, and Minerals, to include valuable gems for themselves.
Without any doubt the debate over who owns the North Pole is now alive and well with every nation on earth doing its bidding. This scenario is an eerie repeat of who owned America after Columbus discovered it in 1492, hopefully Global warming now, making oil exploration more viable, will not lead to a repeat of history where the world is at war over these new found territories and their associated resources.
Should the Sakhalin's oil rich regions stave off peak oil, this should be our cue to to come up with our alternative energy plan, to include a hydrogen based economy. To say that this environmental disaster of a discovery, (and project) without some sort of an alternative energy lesson is without merit, would in fact be a sad future energy agenda.
This dicovery should hopefully help alleviate the energy crisis in the US some time in the future.

A Crude Awakening Oil is expensive.
The price of gasoline has gone up over the weekend and is expected to go a even higher, even though the price per barrel dropped today. My quest to get to the truth about our local oil shock always drives me to research and find answers.
This drive of mine increased when my local gas station at the corner of High St, and the Post Rd. dropped his franchise and became an independent operator. His gas station is now called "USA Fuel" and shortly up the Post Rd. there is yet another patriotic gas station called "Patriot" fuel.
The frenzy to compete on gasoline is causing these gas stations to dump their franchisers with the result of lowering the price per gallon. My first impression was that these gas stations are making a lot of money with the high price of gas, but in reality the price hurts the local station because it reduces demand for the gasoline and most franchises only pay the stations for a fixed profit per gallon.
Wanting to know more I went to the Post mall and bought a documentary called "A Crude Awakening." This was the best thing I ever did in truly understanding the energy and oil situation not only here in Milford but in all of America.
The overall message of the movie is that Americans believed our oil would never run out, that it would be here forever. This is proving to be the biggest mis-perception of the century. Every nation on earth is now copying the great consumptive life we have built for ourselves in America. China, India, and Europe all aspiring for individual ownership of a car, a home, and the countless cheap plastic products we have come to enjoy so much.
There is only one problem, and that is that our oil reserves cannot reasonably sustain the good life we have in America spanned across the globe. The worlds new found thirst for oil is causing all the major oil regions of the earth to peak pressuring more outrageous political pressures and competition for oil.
Every industrial government wants to fuel their energy needs, but the supply of oil is not capable of sustaining the rate of growth that the world economy demands. Oil dubbed as the black devil has been the subject of wars, including most recently the gulf war and Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. According to the "A Crude Awakening" documentary the only place left on earth that has not peaked in its oil production is the "war torn" Middle East.
America has no energy plan should our energy demands begin to wane below our needs. The consequences of not having a cheap source of energy are unthinkable, and too upsetting to even think about. Richard Branson of the Virgin Industries has called this problem "serious" and invested several billions of his own money to start "Virgin Fuel" of which I personally hope he succeeds.
The very embarrassment of the energy crisis has led to our political leaders not being honest, just reassuring the public that everything is under control while they know otherwise. This dire energy situation coupled with politics is akin to you or me making up a lame excuse for why our failure to afford our electric bill resulted in the lights going off. Even though America has not had its lights shut off, it has been served with a "shutoff notice." Unfortunately the 9 Trillion charged to the national credit card is now "maxed out."
Politicians cannot and do not want to campaign with bad news. The people of America are perpetually hopeful that America will remain the greatest nation on earth forever and are diseased with "selective reception" and "selective perception" and as such only lying politicians are getting elected. The sooner America wakes up the sooner we can soften what otherwise may be an abrupt crash caused by global energy competition. One last point to note is that, despite this documentary, the CEO of Exxon Mobil is of the opinion that we have plenty of supply to meet future deamand.

Cleaning Up our Environment
The environment has been an issue of mine for quite a while, but with limited local, state and federal resources to actually accomplish such a herculean task I believe it is important to focus on the removal of the most toxic compounds first.
One such compound that is of greatest concern to me and is considered a big problem for the entire Northeast is Mercury in our environment. Being in the Electronics industry, and soon after I learned of the mercury problem I instituted a Computer Recycling program to dispose of computer parts containing Mercury in an Eco-friendly way. But the computer industry is only a small part of the problem.
Coal burning power plants, like the one here in Milford, are also a big problem, because when coal is burned residual mercury contained in the coal itself is actually spewed into the environment through the plants smoke stacks. Energy companies, who also have excessive electric costs also compound the mercury problem by causing a surge in the sales of compact fluorescent bulbs that save energy, but also contain mercury.
Mercury is a major health hazard and is directly connected to a pandemic neurological and brain disorders, that can induce Autism, Muscular Sclerosis, Attention Deficit Disorder, memory loss, and many other devastating diseases. With record sales of compact fluorescent bulbs due to record spikes in electricity mercury in the Northeast needs to be addressed as the number one health hazard to the general public. Signs such as this one in Ohio may become more commonplace if we do not adress this problem right away.
Anyone who has any products containing mercury, including T.V.'s, old thermostats, neon, monitors or compact fluorescent bulbs, should not break them, trash them, or put them in a place where they can come in contact with the ground water. Mercury if ingested, can and does cause neurological damage. Other sources of mercury can be found in dental fillings from years back, but the most recent positive change on the mercury front is that all modern batteries no longer contain mercury after the year 2000.
Today's post is a renewed call to our local legislators that the high cost of electricity is elevating the introduction of mercury in our environment at an alarming rate and a remediation plan needs to addressed immediately for the safety of children who may be at risk of exposure.

H.B. No. 7432 Amann Introduces a Bill Rewarding UI
H.B. No. 7432 Was introduced by My opponent and Speaker of the House Jim Amann. This bill is a Dream Bill for UI our electricity nightmare company now soaking us again and again with rate hikes that defy understanding or explanation. UI's profits soared and our Speaker Amann who also opposed the "windfall Profits Tax" that Blumenthal so passionately wanted to protect Ct's consumers, also voted to soak us again on electricity.
So many of us cut down on our usage of electricity because the rates were so high. Just today my friend at the local gas station was telling me how his wife and children all sleep in one bedroom of their house to battle the unaffordable high cost of electric heat. Do our politicians care? Apparently not because House Bill 7432 punishes you the consumer for conserving electricity. It makes the little electric you do use even more ridiculously expensive by kicking back the lost profits to the Big UI energy company.
How does this outrageous practice work? Well to explain I will quote a note from the house critic of it State Rep. Robert Megna who said "customers of CL&P and UI who are conserving energy will have to pay both the $5 million annual conservation fund bonus and the additional profits section 107 provides. Needless to say" he "voted against the bill."
Representative Megna represents the 97Th district in New Haven he is a member of the Environment, Insurance and Real Estate and General Law Committees."
This is once again another slap in the face by our House Speaker and State Representatives who continues to plunder Milford's residents of their diminishing cash. Of every person I spoke to in Hartford about this bill, no one, not one representative could give me a financially beneficial reason to us the consumer. The fact remains that this bill does not help a single CT resident, it instead punishes us the consumers and rewards UI and CL&P investors with more Wall Street profit.

Magnet School is a Great Opportunity for Milford Children
Last night I attended a meeting where John J. Curtis the Director of the Bridgeport Regional Vocational Aquaculture School addressed students from Fairfield and New Haven County. The scope of this meeting was a public open house to discuss the schools programs, and opportunities afforded children of public schools.
Many local schools have information available to students who wish to attend this program as integrated into their regular schooling. The Aqua Culture school will accept any student applying now from 8Th grade on. Information on enrolling your child can be obtained by contacting the school at (203) 337-0168.
The school is located right at Captains Cove in Bridgeport, and is building a very impressive national and international position in educational opportunity. I found the school to be technologically impressive with scores of computers used to teach children Computer Automated design of boats, and related parts. They offer mechanical courses on outboard boat engine repair and service, as well all farming of marine life such as fish and lobsters.
The students also have a full pathology lab where they can study adverse environmental health effects of animals that may have died or got sick from farming or environmental problems. The advanced labs are fully equipped with every type of scientific apparatus a child could need. Some of these include gas, microwave and light spectroscopy devices all of which are used to determine chemical composition of materials.
The school also has a 57 foot yacht to navigate around the Long Island Sound as part of scientific and exploratory adventures. This school provides ECE or early college experiences of which can be used for university credit. The school operates in conjunction with major universities in CT and beyond and has college professors who teach many of the accredited courses. The school also just recieved new grant money to complete a major expansion in the coming years.
This entire experience was a very positive and as such I highly recommend this school to parents who have qualifying children.

A Bad Day on Wall Street
The Dow plunged today 360 points, with after hours trading poised to drop another 400 points by morning. This horrific news arrived on the heels of a battery of dismal events. General Motors posted a write down loss of 39 Billion, Morgan Stanley took a 3.7 Billion Dollar loss., Merrill Lynch took a 10 Billion Dollar Hit, Oil continues its climb to $100.00 a barrel.
There is some good news and that is a small minority of companies did post some modest gains and U.S. productivity is up, meaning Americans are working harder just to survive.
But the all encompassing bad news is that the Federal Reserve is failing in doing its job in maintaining the value of the Dollar. Actually they are doing a better job of sinking it than they are raising it back to a safe level. America still has not done its job in regulating our regulators. America needs some better days, because our land and businesses have gotten so cheap on the world markets that foreign companies are ravaging our despair like vultures picking at a dying carcass.
For all the locals here in Milford who think this does not affect you, think again. Southern CT Gas, and Energy East company has just been sold to Spain, meaning your home is now heated by a foreign company. There is a "Global Fire Sale" going on in America due to our failing Dollar on world markets. With the rate America is being sold off, the only jobs left may be foreign companies in the United States. We may be entering an era where Un-American Globalist companies rule in Washington.

Congratulations Jim Richetelly
Although only 80% of the actual vote has been tallied I feel it is safe to say that Jim Richetelli has won the election for Mayor of our town. Voter turnout was pretty low but when compared to the rest of the elections our town is pretty consistent as an overall percentage.
According to news 12 this is where it stands with the 80% of the count reported:
James Richetelli (GOP) 7,238 57%
Kerri Rowland (D) 5,439 43%
It is my opinion that Mr. Richetelli's lead of nearly 14% makes hin the undisputed winner. The likely hood of Rowland winning is slim as it would require the remaining 20% of uncounted voters to be 80% in her favor. This would be absolutely impossible, incredible and suspect given the 80% spread of 57% to 43%.
Tonight we can rest easy that our incumbent mayor has prevailed. Perhaps next election the Democrats will present a more qualified and charismatic leader to dethrone our incumbent. In a perfect world city leaders should not be dethroned on the basis of outlandish endorsements, or crazed advertising and spin, but instead defeated on the basis of greater Intelligence, competence, and qualifications.
To quote the Romans:
"What is popular is not always right, and what is Right is not always popular."

Milford's New Voting Gizmo's Suspect.
About two months ago I was on the phone speaking with the voter registrars office regarding the new voting gizmo's coming to Milford. These were a particular concern of mine because Moveon.org all but has condemned electronic voting all together.
Quite happily I felt very comfortable to know that our authorities at the voter registrars office have the up most confidence in these new voting machines. Not only are they electronic calculators, but they are backed with a paper receipt making the system pretty much a two tier fail safe unit. So that is what I, and you have been all told.
Just last week, in my mailbox came a little postcard with instructions on how to use this new little voting wonder, and for the first time I learned its name. The unit aptly dubbed the "Diebold optical scan" (see photo) requires us, the voters, to mark a card that we feed through a scanner that then reads our card and records our vote into memory. Eventually, after we have all voted and the polls close, the gizmo publishes the electronic results announcing the winners.
This is the part that gets a bit slippery, because it entails my skepticism and distrust of technology all together. Also, being that I am the CEO of Computerfox Inc., I can expertly speak to the fact that these Diebold machines are not only prone to error, but are about as reliable as your basic home computer. Computers that my company fixes by the thousands in CT.
My paranoia of these "diabolical" machines, as of yesterday became a grim reality. What I suspected of them is appallingly true they do not work reliably. The Daytona beach news journal in Fla. the "capitol state" of voting disasters, all but condemned these machines exposing defects in their memory cards, and unacceptable failure rates that cannot be checked unless the proper manpower is used to supervise these units. This too is difficult because, its designers refuse to give up the computer code. Diabold alleges that despite the integrity of the electoral system, election auditors or computer programmers have no right to look at the computer code. This code is the computer language that is written inside the unit. There is already evidence (see the video below) that this programming language can be tampered with to throw an election.
Diebold indicated, however, that they are committed to examining any problems, but to do so with reticence, in other words someone would have to force them into action. Immediately after learning about this problem I placed a "Diary" at dailykos.com. This is what 17 people said: SEE THE COMMENTS
The overwhelming majority response was shocking and not what I expected, and now once again I find myself challenging the Voter Registrar, and election commission here in our state as should you. Please help voice your opinion to local leaders, to restore trust in our electoral process.

United Illuminatings 3Q Profits up 75%
Today was the day I left my office to pay my electric bill at ShopRite on Cherry Street. While I was there it was an opportunity to speak to the desk clerk about local citizens, and business owners. They were kind enough to share their experiences with the power struggle in CT.
The clerk told me that activity at the desk was higher than usual in the last year with more people paying their bill partially. This is consistent with the UI conference call that indicates their "Uncollected Recievables" to be higher.
Despite our personal energy struggles here in town, these higher rates have been great news for UI this third quarter. Even with the UI executives commenting on a warmer winter so far this year over last their per share jump grew by a whopping 75%. Most of these executives focused their time down playing this profit and redirected their conversation to all their liabilities of which include their Milford pollution project of a new power plant part of a 700 Million dollar upgrade in conjunction with Energy Inc. In other words it appears they they are "cooking the books" to hide their shameful 75% profit increase.
Gov. Rell indicated that CT has had its power nearly double over the last 7 years, and the massive UI conglomerate continues to aggressively pursue generation in CT. The DPUC on June 1st 08, is set to rule on the approval of this project, and yet there is still no comment on how these plants are going to produce energy. My concern is that if these projects, like the Norwalk Project now half done is going to be a gas based project.
The North East barely has enough gas to fuel our basic needs let alone power generation. If the construction of these "peak energy" plants, (of which I believe are just a ruse to take advantage of CT's outrageous electric costs) is going to burn natural gas than we will have more of a compelling reason for the construction of a massive LNG nightmare.
UI must be confronted on this as should be Jim Amann who opposed the "Windfall Profits Tax" that Blumenthal proposed. Milford residents keep getting betrayed on energy by politicians like Amann who continue to tell us one thing while deciding in favor of big corporations. Call Jim Amann and voice your opposition to the Milford power plant and the LNG that will soon be associated with it in our sound. Demand the implementation of the "Windfall profits tax."

Standing up for CT
Today, I was traveling in my car and up came a new form of campaigning. This took form in the shape of a typical campaign sign depicting a slogan "nothing left to give." Never before have I seen a sign like this. A sign that was actually working to get votes. This sign to me is rather peculiar and yet a sad testament to the atmosphere of struggle we are facing in our town.
Several times I have written that a political party paradigm is not going to fix our problems here at home. Milford's financial problems are the result of neither Democrats or Republicans, Conservatives nor Liberals.
The fault lies right there in your mirror each morning, you and all people like you, who laid down your voices because you just want to fit in with popular culture. I apologize in advance for my callous remarks if this is not who you are, but I do take exception with anyone who feels their vote does not matter, or just criminalizes any talk of politics as taboo. I also take issue with anyone who fails to believe that "one person" cannot make a difference. Look at this lone Courageous Chinese man causing a column of tanks to stand down. Remember Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Etc.. Their commonality is that their voices can be heard reverberating around the world still to this day.
We must stop blaming, and taking issue with the first person we perceive to be the culprit of social malaise. Whether it be the tax man, our boss, our family, our local businesses and community leaders. The truth, as I see it, is that everyone is hurting in some way and yet no one knows or has any idea on how to change things for the better. All too often our leaders in town use economic and social misfortune as propaganda to win votes. Rarely do our leaders have any semblance of reality when it comes to macroeconomic policies. They just want you to believe that every problem in your life is because of their political opponent. Politicians count on you being shallow. Nothing is more pleasing to them than to have you believe the first thing they put in your mailbox as the truth.
This needs to end, because all levels of America and its cities are now under attack due to energy costs, devalued Dollars, inflation, high food costs, a fading middle class, hospital bills, and most recently fear of terror and fear of losing our homes. While we are crippled with fear, and struggle, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, the weak get weaker and the powerful get more control over our liberty. This all occurs by stealth and with the help of everything you see hear and watch on the television. To see what America lost just find some pictures by Norman Rockwell who encapsulated so nicely Americas post WWII culture.
The time to stand up for our state is more important than ever, believe you can make a difference and you will. Get off your anti-depressants, Turn off the Television/Pendulum and snap yourself and family out of the media trance.
Start to read quality books, and impartial news sources not controlled by Rupert Murdoc, Disney, Time Warner, or Microsoft. Talk to your neighbors, your friends. Make a promise to your loved ones to get involved in voicing your thoughts to secure their future freedom. Standing up for CT means breaking your relationship with a screen, and looking at the real world instead. You are the future, and changing yourself or one person alone is infact changing the future. Listen, Learn, Challenge, and most importantly question everything.
