Top Milford Democrat Indicted on Conspiracy Charges

Federal authorities disclosed Friday that they have indicted three more lawyers and real estate professionals in a multi-million dollar real estate fraud that left a trail of blighted housing in New Haven.

The superseding indictment charges mortgage originator Andrew Constantinou, 56, of Unionville; attorney Genevieve Salvatore, 41, of Milford; and attorney Lawrence Dressler, 46, of New Haven, with conspiracy and fraud offenses.

The three are tied in the indictment to a series of mortgage frauds that prosecutors said were orchestrated by Menachem Yosef Levitin, 27, of New Haven. The fraud cost banks $10 million in losses and involved more than 50 mortgages on numerous rundown, residential properties that ultimately were abandoned.

Milford Chair Smith, Disavows Ms. Salvatore. He had this to say in defense of his party. "Rocco, yes, I had heard about this but, as I think you know, she has had no standing with us for several years now. She has no role and her alleged criminal activities have nothing to do with the Milford Democratic Party."

I was surprised to see that Atty Salvatore was involved as it was reported and I truly hope that when everything is said and done that she comes out of this unscathed.
The whole mortgage industry was beaten down by not only poor banking standards, mortgage broker who were less than honest but now as we see time and again by Attorneys who really knew better, but gave in to greed.
I would also say that this has nothing to do with a persons political party, but more to a persons moral and ethical make up.

True Pete,

Just keep in mind she could have been our Mayor; although this issue was not even germane at the time. Dem Chair Smith seemed to know about it right away but what he knew then I do not know, none of us know.

As for her guilt or innocence I have no idea I all I know is she was accused and in the land of the Free she ought to enjoy the presumption of innocence at least until a jury of her peers tells us otherwise. Right now I am praying for her family, her children and her husband she could use all the support she could get during this difficult time in her life.
