Milford Land Use Department Erupts into Chaos, Confusion and Grievances

Three top city land use officials have since April filed a total of 10 grievances against the administration, alleging the interim director of a newly created land use agency illegally changed their job descriptions on multiple occasions.

City Planner David Sulkis, Assistant City Planner Emmeline Harrigan and Chief Building Inspector Thomas Raucci have all filed grievances against Department of Permitting and Land Use Interim Director Douglas Novak and Mayor James L. Richetelli Jr.

After years of study and reports, the city in October approved creating a new Department of Permitting and Land Use agency, which provides administrative oversight over the building, planning and zoning, and inland wetlands agencies. The new DPLU was created after years of complaints by developers and residents about a lack of service and long waiting periods to receive permits.

In Sulkis’ first of seven grievances, he wrote that the job description and functions of the new DPLU overlap and usurp his job description.

“This is bargaining unit work that has been transferred to a non-bargaining unit appointed position,” Sulkis wrote.

Whopping New Obama Tax Increases Set For 2011

Unless the U.S. Congress acts, there is going to be a massive wave of tax increases in 2011. In fact, some are already calling 2011 the year of the tax increase. A whole host of tax cuts that Congress established between 2001 and 2003 are set to expire in January unless Congress chooses to renew them. But with Democrats firmly in control of both houses that appears to be extremely unlikely. These tax increases are going to affect every single American (at least those who actually pay taxes). But this will be just the first wave of tax increases. Another huge slate of tax increases passed in the health care reform law is scheduled to go into effect by 2019. So Americans that are already infuriated by our tax system are only going to become more frustrated in the years ahead. The reality is that the U.S. government will soon be digging much deeper into our wallets.

The following are some of the tax increases that are scheduled to go into effect in 2011….

1 – The lowest bracket for the personal income tax is going to increase from 10 percent to 15 percent.

2 – The next lowest bracket for the personal income tax is going to increase from 25 percent to 28 percent.

3 – The 28 percent tax bracket is going to increase to 31 percent.

4 – The 33 percent tax bracket is going to increase to 36 percent.

5 – The 35 percent tax bracket is going to increase to 39.6 percent.

6 – In 2011, the death tax is scheduled to return. So instead of paying zero percent, estates of $1 million or more are going to be taxed at a rate of 55 percent.

7 – The capital gains tax is going to increase from 15 percent to 20 percent.

8 – The tax on dividends is going to increase from 15 percent to 39.6 percent.

9 – The “marriage penalty” is also scheduled to be reinstated in 2011.

It is being estimated that the total cost of these tax increases to U.S. taxpayers will be $2.6 trillion through the year 2020.

Ouch!

But wait, there are even more tax increases coming.

The “health care reform law” contains over a dozen new taxes that will be implemented in stages over the next decade. When you add all of these taxes to the taxes that were mentioned earlier, the result is going to be absolutely devastating. According to an analysis by the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation the health care reform law will generate $409.2 billion in additional taxes by the year 2019.

Double ouch!

So is it any wonder why the public has such a low opinion of the U.S. Congress?

Every single major poll done on the topic shows that approval ratings for Congress are at record lows.

For example, Gallup’s 2010 Confidence in Institutions poll found Congress ranking dead last out of the 16 institutions rated this year.

Of course there are a whole host of reasons why the American people are upset with Congress, but one of the big ones is the fact that we are literally being taxed to death.

However, it is not just federal income taxes that are killing us.

In a previous article entitled “Taxed Enough Already!”, we listed just a few of the taxes that Americans have to pay each year….

Accounts Receivable Tax. Building Permit Tax, Capital Gains Tax, CDL license Tax, Cigarette Tax, Corporate Income Tax, Court Fines (indirect taxes), Dog License Tax, Federal Income Tax, Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA), Fishing License Tax, Food License Tax, Fuel permit tax, Gasoline Tax, Gift Tax, Hunting License Tax, Inheritance Tax, Inventory tax IRS Interest Charges (tax on top of tax), IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax), Liquor Tax, Local Income Tax, Luxury Taxes, Marriage License Tax, Medicare Tax, Payroll Taxes, Property Tax, Real Estate Tax, Recreational Vehicle Tax, Road Toll Booth Taxes, Road Usage Taxes (Truckers), Sales Taxes, School Tax, Septic Permit Tax, Service Charge Taxes, Social Security Tax, State Income Tax, State Unemployment Tax (SUTA), Telephone federal excise tax, Telephone federal universal service fee tax, Telephone federal, state and local surcharge taxes, Telephone minimum usage surcharge tax, Telephone recurring and non-recurring charges tax, Telephone state and local tax, Telephone usage charge tax, Toll Bridge Taxes, Toll Tunnel Taxes, Traffic Fines (indirect taxation), Trailer registration tax, Utility Taxes, Vehicle License Registration Tax, Vehicle Sales Tax, Watercraft registration Tax, Well Permit Tax, Workers Compensation Tax, and coming soon 16,500 new irs agents and the Obamacare tax.

Are you dizzy yet?

The reality is that the American people are being drained in dozens and dozens of different ways.

But what did you expect?

Did you think that our politicians would pile up the biggest debt in the history of the world and never ask you to pay for it?

Did you think that we could run deficits equivalent to about 10 percent of GDP without ever seeing tax increases?

The truth is that the U.S. government needs a whole lot more money than even these new tax increases will bring in.

After all, it is being projected that the U.S. government will be spending $2 trillion on the interest on the national debt alone by the year 2020.

To put that in perspective, the entire budget for the U.S. government is less than $4 trillion for 2010.

Are you starting to get the picture?

In the years ahead the IRS is going to be digging deeper and deeper into our pockets and a gigantic chunk of that money is going to go directly into the pockets of those who own our debt.

But very few Americans wanted to listen when this problem was actually somewhat fixable 20 or 30 years ago.

So now we are all going to pay the price – literally.

Federal Government Invades Milford Business Owners

Nothing invokes greater fear, anxiety, or stress than the tormentive and mean spirited actions of the IRS. Once empowered to collect taxes, the agency and its agents have become synonymous with the only form of Government sanctioned terrorism against the general public whom they sadistically impose draconian tax collection measures. Measures that would have made Julius Caesar blush.

The silent coup de tat is now no more, especially since in the age of bailouts the IRS.gov website is bragging about cleaning out struggling businesses and individuals.

The idea to write about this issue came to me when two IRS agents walked into my store looking for information about a business owner that once resided next door to me. Then I saw the same individuals at the auto Repair shop where I was getting my car repaired and then it occurred to me to start asking questions and do some research on exactly how many businesses this agency was bullying in our community.

If we go just with the raw statistics posted at their website it is safe to assume that about 10% of our entire city is being punished by this agency and that was in 2007. I made some telephone calls and spoke with a friend of mine who works for the agency and he confirmed that collection and collection practices continue to accelerate in local communities throughout the recession.

He said that "IRS enforcement against financially strapped individuals and businesses is directly responsible for a very large number foreclosures in the area." The agency has no rgrets nor does it care about the losses it induces on big banks, credit card companies or the overall economy. He said that "the data he saw indicates that for every dollar of tax that is forcebly collected from a small business or a homeowner, big banks, landlords, suroounding businesses and local vendors lose about $2.00 as a result of the economic wreckage they leave behind."

The IRS has replied that "No other expenses are permitted when taxes are owed period." Taxes we would all think must be paid because we are required as a nation to maintain our infrastructure, build roads, pay for the military and keep us united as a country. So it would stand to reason that one would wish to see exactly where all these payroll taxes and income taxes go.

In my research I could find only one such study done in the 1980's by Ronald Reagan and that report was titled the GRACE COMMISSION REPORT click HERE to view it. The report concluded at a time when our national debt was roughly 3T that almost every penny collected in income tax was confiscated and rendered back to big international banks as interest. The Grace Commission further added that we get vitually $0.00 back in the services taxpayers would expect to see for their money.

Sadly the American people and those people interviewed in Aaron Russo's FREEDOM TO FASCISM all indicated that "they are afraid of their government and chose to pay the tax just to avoid problems."

There are people in Congress who have fought the Austerity destroying measures by the IRS and one such person James Trafficante, successfully introduced what he called the "Trafficant language" into a congressional bill that forever changed the burden of proof the IRS requires of those people it interrogates and then charges with tax crimes. Soon after the bill passed and according to Alex Jones Trafficant was set up, charged with corruption, and tax evasion and furthermore had his entire congressional district gerrymandered in order that he never return to Congress. This sent a message that resonated throughout the halls of Congress that if any Congressman dare challenge the IRS, or the U.S Treasury a full scale retaliation will be waged against you and your career destroyed. Ronald Reagan Ironically was also shot and was also under constant duress by those enemies of our Free Republic who find the notion of an American Superstate ripe with Freedom and Opportunity, Repugnant.

While the official statistics have not yet surfaced for the attack on our austerity in 2008-2010 what has is the local TEA Party and those individuals who feel we are Taxed Enough Already. As the annals of big corporate bailouts are being doled to everyone who is in the inner sanctum of the "good old boys club in Washington D.C." the middle class who asked for relief has been getting Increasingly audited, levied and forced into foreclosure by a government intent on expanding an agency whose sole purpose is to crush and punish individuals in order to collect Income Tax money that builds and offers nothing in return.

The Tea Party movement has become our modern day Paradox, one where individuals who want real reform over the issues of Taxation without representation, are at odds with those who feel bigger government and more taxes is the answer. Our future leaders are increasingly adopting a platform to "get the government off peoples backs" and are demanding the government start using tax dollars as they were intended, to pay for services and construction projects that benefit the infrastucture and security of America not give it away to big banks as interest on money they created through "quantitative easing" or in other words "out of thin air."

The Tea Party is tired of Tax dollars being funneled away from the local economy to increase National debt and the size of Government. This is what Obama Care will do when it starts to add 16,500 more Austerity destroying IRS agents to the rank and file of the overbloated Federal Government. For a long time it has been clear that the faultering state of our nation has been creating hardships, and in the wake of such hardships Socialism seems like the answer that is untill you consider that 45 Million Americans are on Food Stamps, Food Pantries are in a crisis, and the American Middle Class is in a crisis as a result of this nations Wealthiest American's taking all their money and leaving the country. Soon our egality will arrive in the form mutual distrust, hunger, and scarcity.

The purpose of this article today is to let all know that under no circumstance should you ever be afraid of your Government. That fear is what gives rise to the misplaced power that threatens our way of life. In these challenging times the answer is to not be afraid, do not be afraid to confront these agencies whose sole purpose is to satisfy their insatiable demand for money. The best way to win against the IRS is to just surrender, let them have what they demand they are going to get it anyway. In the meanwhile try to start enjoying your life the best way you can, get politically active, exercize your rights and learn to survive in the leanest way possible... and... most importantly only vote for and support people like James Trafficant and Peter Schiff. We retaliate against the IRS by voting for and supporting those individuals for Congress and the Presidency who are intent on marginalizing reducing the size of the IRS to rubble. Spread the word!

Milford's Two Party System Perilously Ignores Towns Independent Party

When reading the propaganda at the towns Republican and Democratic website the message is always the same Republicans are at fault for everything bad and Democrats decry that they are responsible for everything good. Never is there a mention of the Independent party of this town.

The very notion of watching these two special interest groups fight and wrangle over control of the millions and millions of dollars at their disposal has become truly repulsive. The Independent party has been working and working hard not just locally but state wide to give every man, woman and child an honest government.

As this article is being written, on the steps of Hartford 32 Independent state candidates are being announced for office. All these candidates, and their posts including one US Senate post and 3 Congressional seats are under the exclusive direction of CT most effective minor political party.

In previous elections Independents qualified for large sums of public money, and in many towns have gotten in excess of 25% of the total vote. Our trust with the community is becoming well known and widely respected. The Independent party has achieved this record by quietly working, and working hard to rise up from nothing in 2006 to an evolutionary paradox that has become loved and hated at the same time by the very political duopoly it threatens to challenge.

When independents serve to sink the Democrat, the Republicans cheer and befriend them and when the Independents serve to sink a Republican the Democrats cheer and befriend them. The reckoning is already here in many towns, and the lesson of power is sometimes in the hands of those you would least expect.

Deciding elections on propaganda, lies and coercion alone no longer works in many towns across the state and the Independent Party is already in a position to tell the two party duopoly that we do not like their candidate or the lies they drop in our mailboxes. In many instances by way of cross endorsements we are now becoming more able to tell corrupt lawmakers that public errors can and will be corrected when we know better.

The values that we expect of our public officials are crystal clear and demands very high standards. The Independent party expects that our leaders not lie, cheat, or steal from the taxpayers. The Independent party demands that all our leaders not only just swear an oath to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution but actually really do it. We expect our leaders to protect and fight for the inalienable rights of all individual citizens regardless of race, creed, social status or religion. Lastly none are more disliked than those who cow and buckle under the threat of the Federal Government and their flawed policies that render constant injury to middle class citizens everywhere nor do we support any leader that sponsors, votes for, or presents any legislation that threatens the individual rights of all people; those rights being liberty, prosperity, and egality.

At no time in this towns history, or at least since the historic victory of the late Charles Iovino in the 1960's has the resolve of the Independent Party been so great. As the "Republicrat" duopoly continues to grasp at straws and the city continues its bipartisan downward spiral into the abyss of induced over taxation, and poor fiscal discipline I would expect our ambitious Faux Pas leaders rush to wave every piece of unprovable flowery facts in our faces. Thankfully, we know differently and all one has to do is read back in this well documented blog and just know that it is the local Milford Independent Party that continues to show you the reality of the town in which we live in.

For today we are happy that the "Republicrats" have forgotten us, but as we enter the political season set to kick off in August we will not be forgotten for long! Thankfully we have lots of questions and facts to put on record. Be warned the Eagle is rising fast!

Milford EDC working on online database

Members of the city’s Economic Development Commission are planning what they say is an innovative way they hope will fill available office, commercial and manufacturing properties in Milford.

Economic Development Commission Chairman Cyrus Settineri and Vice Chairwoman Susan Patrick have been working on creating an event to spotlight available parcels in Milford.

Additionally, the EDC plans to create an online database highlighting all available parcels in Milford, making it easy for commercial brokers.

“This will help landlords and property owners market available properties,” Patrick said at a recent EDC meeting.

Developers In Milford At It Again

Even after the Planning and Zoning Board granted conditional approval for 26-28 manufactured houses to be placed on Heenan Drive, developer Louis D’Amato said he plans to fight the ruling in court.

The PZB Tuesday night unanimously approved D’Amato’s plan to put about half the homes atop a 40-foot cliff that divides the 4.1-acre property off Rock Lane, but denied his plan to extend a private driveway off Research Drive to provide access to the upper level.

However, the PZB approval is contingent on D’Amato linking the upper and lower levels of the development, despite the cliff.

Heat Waves Drive Up Cost Of Water

Aquarion Water Company, the supplier for Milford and its surrounding towns is warning that the heat wave affecting our area is creating a surge in water usage. The surge broke all recent records when the outflow meter topped 120 million gallons in just one day.

Aquarion said that the system is being tested to new levels and reports of brown water have surfaced. Some concerned over the "muddy water" feared they were getting the bottom scum of an empty reservoir, however this according Aquarion is not the case. Aquarion said that all drinking water fills very large tanks at night but excessive use is not allowing the tanks to fill completely adding a strain on those water users south of Milford.

The people who live south of Milford have pipes that reduce in size therefore the more water we use the less water is available to those in Fairfield county. The water company is advising that residents with odd street Numbers water their lawns on odd days, those with even numbered homes should water their lawns on even numbered days.

The national weather service has indicated that the record breaking triple digit heat wave is expected to continue for a few more days. Thereafter thunderstorms will arrive and with it some slightly cooler temperatures.

Should the heatwave continue unabated inducing an added strain on our water delivery system Aquarion said they will "dramatically increase the cost of water" to force conservation.

Tom Marsh Vision Stirs Up Gubernatorial Race

Waging an independent campaign for governor, Tom Marsh doesn't have access to the funding, volunteers and other resources routinely available to major party candidates.

But the Chester first selectman, who abandoned his bid for the GOP nomination three months ago, said there's one advantage to not having to woo party insiders: He can tell voters the truth about the largest budget deficit in state history.

•Facing the budget: Fourth in a series
"You have to adhere to the party rhetoric in order to get the attention of the rabid followers, and that's who makes up the town committees," Marsh said in an interview last week. "I don't think the solutions to the state's problems are going to be found in either party's rhetoric, yet that's the system we have here."

For Marsh, running as the candidate of the Independent Party of Connecticut frees him to talk about solutions he's convinced will infuriate hard-core Democrats or Republicans - and in a few cases both.

It means a higher tax burden, including higher rates for the rich and a modest new contribution from the poor, as well a repeal of some of the myriad tax credits and exemptions for special interests.

Milford Celebrates Independence Day

No blogging today due to the July 4th holiday weekend will be back on track next week. Thanks for visiting the Milford Daily Blog and we will see you around the bend.
