Saint Partrick's Day Parade In Milford

The spirit of the Irish was alive and well in Milford yesterday. The town, as in many of its events, came out en-masse to participate in the local parade tradition. The parade started off behind the Parsons building and continued around the corner through the center of town. The street was packed with onlookers from both sides of the street and extended the full length of the green.

The weather was beautiful, and the procession of people and floats extended for what I would guess to be about one half of a mile. Many people, like me brought their pets and kids and ran amok in celebratory shamrocks and green outerwear. All our local politicians, including our State reps, and Senator occupied a fixed float parked in front of the Funeral home. We were also once again graced with CT Attorney General Dick Blumenthal's appearance in town.

Overall the entire event was a great success, with several merchants selling food and decorations to the spectators. The spirit of Saint Patrick's day was alive and well thanks to the many organizers and parade participants whom made it all possible. I thank each and everyone who came out, and planned and organized this event in support of our local town unity. Thank you all for a wonderful day and a very successful event.
